“May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be” - St. Theresa

Huge thanks to Mrs. Elrod and three of our amazing arts students (Lucy, Eliana, and Nati) for the amazing new mural in Campus Ministry! Enjoy the summer, dashers! We are preparing for your return already ❤️

These radiant forces of nature are graduating in just a couple moments. The Class of 2023 CM officers have given their time, heart, and creativity to make this year one full of prayer and fun. We are so grateful for you ❤️.

In the words of Sr. Grace Mary, may the Class of 2023 “Go forth into the world making a difference, in the love of the Divine Savior and under the protection of the Holy Angels.”

The new retreat coordinators received thier hats yesterday from the graduating retreat coordinators!

These young women make DSHA retreats so personal and meaningful for every class. The coordinators have countless hours of planning and preparation ahead of them but we all can’t wait for the freshmen to “Set Sail,” the sophomores to pray “Through the Turbulence,” the Juniors to “Be Present,” and for the seniors to “Say Yes”.

Powderpuff 2023 goes to the freshmen!!! It’s was a glorious day for our final $10,000 Together fundraiser. We raised $2000+ for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and had so much fun doing it.

The DSHA $10,000 Together project
is a year long collaboration between Campus Ministry, Student Council, and co-curriculars to raise $1000 for 10 organizations. Co-curriculars nominated organizations and the student body voted. Student groups MUST work with at least one other student organization in order to have a fundraiser. To date, DSHA student groups have raised $1000 for:

ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis
St. Bahkita House
Camp Hometown Heroes
Warm Hand Warm Hearts
Casa de Esperanza
SEA Literacy
PEARLS for Teen Girls
Best Buddies Wisconsin
MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary

And now the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to build community within DSHA and support the goodness and kindness in the greater community. of the Divine

Welcome to our 23-24 Campus Ministry Officers! Each year, the graduating officers invite the new officers to a lunch to pass on their wisdom and advice. We are blessed with the BEST student ministers who give so much of their time, creativity, and love to make sure their classmates are fully engaged in their faith each year.

This year's officers have helped pack the chapel for Faith Friday Masses, worked with over a dozen co-curricular to raise money for our $10,000 Together Project, and have been a force of prayer and community in the building. We will miss them so much but we know they will be lights on their college campuses.

It is May and AP tests are in full swing. The Campus Ministry office is always open for students during their study hall, wellness, or dasher time. The 6th hour crew is a mix of seniors and sophomores today. Can you tell which group is which 😂?

Praying with some of our 5-7th grade families this morning was such a joy! Good luck on your tours, future dasher!

We took a break from prepping for Mass with a little Irish dance today in the CMC office. Maggie and Claire were good teachers and there was a lot of laughing.

Laughter, prayer, and friendship mix together in our Catholic school. Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone ❤️

DSHA seniors aren't the only dashers serving in the community this week. Sophomores and juniors helped with vision screenings at the amazing St. Adalbert School and delivered over 100 birthday cake bags to Tosa Cares today.

Our Salvatorian mission calls us to "make known the Goodness and Kindness of Jesus". Thank you for living our mission every day dashers!

Vocare 2023 has just a couple of days left but its impact will last a lifetime.

Vocare is Divine Savior Holy Angels High School's two-week service immersion that calls forth the seniors to give of their time and talents in service of the community and faith. 173 seniors are serving in over 50 schools, elderly care facilities, special needs day centers, and community organizations.

On Sunday, seniors gathered to reflect on their first week and had Mass with parents in the Mother of Our Savior chapel. The experiences and relationships they are making are powerful catalysts for who they are becoming. We can't wait until they come back to school and share their experiences with the student body.

03/01/2023

While our seniors are serving in the community on Vocare, we have some special activities for the underclasswomen. Today, theology classes were able to walk the prayer labyrinth. A prayer labyrinth is an ancient spiritual practice that engages our bodies and our spirits. It looks like a maze but has only one wandering path. We are invited to not worry so much about the destination, but to unite ourselves with God and let Him lead.

Students reflected on the human experience of Jesus walking in the desert before his temptation. This meditation mirrors our own lives in so many ways. God is always greater than our wanderings and in the end, everything leads back to Him.

Special thanks to Sarah Winkler and St. Mary's Visitation for the use of their Labyrinth.

For Lent, Campus Ministry is offering a community-wide phone fast. Students can make the phone fast on their own by deciding what they need most in order to connect more with God, others, and themselves. Some are limiting their cell usage to an hour, others are substituting a social media app for a prayer app, and others are joining the lunchtime phone fast.

Every lunch table in the quad has a basket for phones and a deck of cards. Campus Ministry is also a phone free zone during lunch and has games available. What a joy it is to walk through the quad and see students playing together!

(FYI - DSHA students are only allowed to use their phones during lunch and dasher time during the school day)

After Ash Wednesday Mass, students gathered in the Fireside Lounge for Soup with Substance. The topic this week was fasting in different religions. Students from Interfaith co-curricular, Campus Ministry and DEI presented on how and why religions fast while everyone shared a simple meal of soup and bread. Thanks to everyone who joined us!

Lent starts in just a couple of hours! We kicked off the season with our Lent assembly today. We have lots of programs but we will be focusing on God being our strength when we are weak. Small groups, phone fasts, and walking stations of the cross will keep us growing in faith with each other this season.

for the best Catholic Schools Week! In thanksgiving for our Catholic education we:

- donated hair to those in need through Children With Hair Loss
- grew in community with a pancake breakfast
- danced with our dads at Father Daughter Dance
- collected canned goods and monetary donations through our twice monthly collections
- made 300+ sandwiches for Repairers of the Breach and Guest House
- wrote handwritten letters to our incoming Class of 2027!
- honored the faculty and staff who are celebrating anniversaries
- competed to win the Senior v. Staff basketball game
- honored the Marian Scholars and mentors for all they bring to DSHA
- worshipped together at an all-school Mass

But one of the best things was to have Chika Anyanwu speak on the Beatitudes in our lives! Her words were the joyful motivation we all needed to seek Christ with our whole hearts. Bonus: check our Mr. Montgomery as her opening act in the comments.

It's Catholic Schools Week! Join us on Thursday night for the adult session with Chika! Parents, alumnae, and friends welcome.

Every Faith Friday we have Mass in the chapel and this week's is going to be amazing. We are calling it our (Fr)Burns, Babies, Basketball, and Brownies Blessing Mass.

Fr. John Burns is celebrating Mass and talking with students about religious life. The Mass is being said for our Respect Life co-curricular and Basketball team. Finally, brownies will be served after Mass as students go to their Friday co-curricular. It's a good week to be a dasher.

01/24/2023

Everyone is invited to DSHA's Catholic Schools Week Speaker - Chika Anyanwu! Chika is a nationally recognized Catholic Speaker at SEEK, NCYC, Blessed is She, Ascension Press and more. She will talk to the students on Thursday morning.

Parents and friends are invited to the parent session at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 in the DSHA Chapel. We will end with prayer for our daughters and some time to socialize. Feel free to invited others.

The CM office is busy finding just the right Vocare placement for every senior in the class of 2023! The first two weeks of March, seniors are “called forth” to serve for two weeks in a service site in Milwaukee. That time is transformation in making them women who “accept the gospel call to live lives that will make a difference”.

Any alumnae out there who want to give a shout out to their Vocare site?

We are bringing joy to anxious freshmen this week. During the first semester of freshmen year, students have a semester-long class that orients them on how to be successful at DSHA. Recently, they have been learning how to prepare for finals. On these last two days before finals, the wellness program is offering them options on how to prepare in ways other than studying. Campus Ministry is offering sessions for quiet prayer time in the chapel and also hot chocolate and Christmas movies in our office.

Happy Gaudete Week at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School!

We had two beautiful Marian all school Masses in Advent this year - Immaculate Conception and Our Lady of Guadalupe. Yesterday’s gospel reading was the visitation of Mary to Elizabeth. When the two (or three 😉) meet, Elizabeth exclaims that she is filled with the Holy Spirit.

That same Spirit has been active in our students as they planned, prepped, and participated in these Masses. Advent is a busy time as a student but so many students have freely of thier time to make these Masses the best they could be. It is such a privilege to see their devotion bring their classmates into an encounter with Jesus.

We are grateful to Archbishop Listecki, Fr. John Thiede, SJ, Dance Academy of Mexico, Edgar Islas, and the DSHA music department who helped make it happen.

“Had Mary been filled with reason there would have been no room for the child.” - Madeleine L’Engle, "After the Annunciation"

The faculty gathered in the chapel this morning for our regular Wednesday “orchid day” prayer time together. As educators, we teach orderly lessons and help our students to understand things more deeply.

But there is so much in the world that is irrational and unreasonable. Our faith, especially in advent, teaches us to embrace the wild, mysterious wisdom of God that is beyond understanding.

So we pray,

Loving Saviour,

Help us to see you in this irrational season where love blooms bright and wild.

May Mary of the Annunciation be our model of peace that is willing to walk into the wilderness of the unknown and find streams beyond our comprehension.

Lord, help me to gently hold the things in my life that I don’t understand until you bring me to the fullness of understanding in You.

Amen.

Holy Mary, Mother of the Savior, pray for us.
Jesus, help me to be Your Goodness and Kindness. Amen.

If you are looking for a beautiful advent book, check out Madeleine L'Engle's "The Irrational Season".

Advent 2022 is here! Adoration today was so peaceful. We have a full a day of adoration every month but today was a good opportunity for students to destress and be with Jesus before finals season. In addition to the more than 80 students who came during their wellness hour, Mrs. Duffy’s classes all spent time together in adoration. Special thanks to our faculty for being the guardians throughout the day.

O come Emmanuel!

It’s Fr. Francis Jordan Day at DSHA! The founder of our sponsoring order is being beautified tomorrow in Rome. This means he is being acknowledged by the church as a man of universal holiness and saintliness.

We are celebrating! Students received a special Fr. Francis Jordan Holy card and has a fun scavenger hunt with pictures of Fr. Jordan all over the building. Students who found Blessed Jordan got a free cookie 🍪🙏.

Join us in our afternoon prayer and enjoy pictures of our fun day below. Blessed Francis Jordan, pray for us!

Come pray and talk with Mother Mary Clare from the Handmaids next week at the Mother Teresa House! If you know of anyone who would be interested, invite them along. It's going to be a great night.

During Holy Week, Miss Wissing and her three sisters always watch the 1970’s version of Jesus Christ Superstar. They are keeping this super fun tradition alive even though only 2 of the 4 sisters are home this year 🌟
