Acacia Theatre Company
Interdenominational theatre artists striving to share enjoyment and growth from a Christian worldview We, at Acacia, endeavor to stand with the oppressed.
We have often fallen short, but our faith compels us to continually strive to act more justly and love more fully. In that love, and in particular for our siblings of color, we stand. Black lives matter to God! Yes, Black lives matter.
ACTS OF PEACE CAST SPOTLIGHT 🚙⛰🚲
Meet Annika Buck, one of the actors in the cast of ACTS OF PEACE! She will be playing Woman 2 (Anna, Mrs. Fenwick, et al) in THEOPHILUS NORTH and Beulah in THE HAPPY JOURNEY TO TRENTON AND CAMDEN.
Annika shares that this is her "first time working with Acacia Theatre. I tried theatre for the first time in college, and I realized how much I enjoyed acting." As a student at Concordia University, Annika "really enjoyed being in GLASS MENAGERIE because it reflected human life and emotion."
She also shares that one of her most memorable journeys has been "a vacation to Florida with my immediate family. We got to spend time together and go to the beach. It was an important time for us."
We are so happy to have her in the cast of ACTS OF PEACE! See photos of her in GLASS MENAGERIE and in rehearsal for ACTS OF PEACE here.

Meet Mark Thompson, who will be playing Man 1 (Charles, Bill, et al) in THEOPHILUS NORTH!
Mark is a new face on the Acacia stage, and we're happy to have him as a part of this production. He previously worked with Elaine Rewolinski, the director of THEOPHILUS NORTH, on a production of THE MIRACLE WORKER at Summerstage of Delafield.
Mark shares that one of his most memorable trips has been, "A guys trip with my brothers, cousin, dad, and uncle to Yosemite! My family flew and drove out to Yosemite National park and went on the best hike I’ve ever been on. The Half-Dome hike, an 18 mi (puls a mile elevation increase) round trip hike. We had to get up at sunrise and get right on the trail if we wanted to make it all in one day. When we were just about to get to the top of the mountain we saw some storm clouds rolling in and sadly couldn’t make it all the way. We took a bit of shelter under some trees as it hailed for around 10 mins! It cleared up fairly quickly after that and we had a more relaxing hike back down. Our feet were killing us as we arrived back at our campsite as the sun was setting. My uncle had planned to make dinner, but he was much too tired so we just got some pizza and headed straight to bed."

ACTS OF PEACE CREATIVE SPOTLIGHT 🚙⛰🚲
Say hello to Elaine Rewolinski, director of THEOPHILUS NORTH!
Elaine is a long time artist at Acacia, and has both acted and directed on our stage many times. You may have recently seen her direction of THE JEWELER'S SHOP in 2022, or the first time she directed the production in 2001. She has directed numerous productions in the time between, including OPAL in 2015 and THE SECRET GARDEN in 2010. She has also performed in such productions as ANNE OF GREEN GABLES (Marilla Cuthburt) and FIRST CHURCH OF TEXACO (Alice). Photos of these productions are included here!
Elaine shares in our press release for ACTS OF PEACE that, "'Wilder believed that we come into this world to learn, and we are made of the dreams we had in our childhood.' THEOPHILUS NORTH is adapted by Matthew Burnett from the novel by Thornton Wilder, its title character 'asks the people around him to look beyond the margins of their self-imposed life,' Rewolinski explains. Theophilus is a young man who announces his desire for 'adventure, risk, fun,' buys a used car and leaves his hometown. As Rewolinski sees it, he becomes 'a catalyst in the lives of other people, which ultimately causes a change in others, and a new perspective of himself.'"

Say hello to Janet Bouman Peterson, director of KING OF KINGS, PRINCE OF PEACE, one of the three one-acts that make up ACTS OF PEACE!
This season, we are grateful to celebrate Janet's 40th year at Acacia. Janet’s first show at Acacia was THE BEAMS ARE CREAKING, where she met many wonderful people, including her friend, Jon Layton. They are featured here acting together in a production of THE MARRIAGE PROPOSAL. Later in her first season, Janet portrayed Helena in MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. Her first show directing with Acacia was PHILEMON in 1987, followed by COTTON PATCH GOSPEL, which provided the first opportunity to work with her husband, Randy, as a director/lighting designer team. More recently, she directed WE WILL NOT BE SILENT. She recalls "so many wonderful directing experiences. So many shows, different roles and positions and above all so many wonderful people!" Photos of mentioned productions are included here.
Janet, we're so grateful for all the time, effort, creativity and heart you've brought and continue to bring Acacia. Whether as a director, actor, Artistic Director, or any number of the other ways you contribute to this theatre, you have been crucial to making Acacia the place that it is today.
Thank you!!!
We would love to have you on our team for ACTS OF PEACE! If you or anyone you know might be interested, please call, email, or direct message us!

We're pleased to share with you the creative folks behind our season opening production. Say hello to our lighting designer, Dan Hummel!
If you've seen an Acacia production before, you've likely had the chance to enjoy some of Dan's lighting designs. Recent credits at Acacia include THE AGITATORS, THE HOUSE BY THE STABLE, HOLMES AND WATSON.
Elaine Rewolinski, director of one-act Theophilus North, last collaborated with Dan on the production of THE JEWELER'S SHOP. Dan also recently worked with Janet Bouman Peterson, director of one-act KING OF KINGS, PRINCE OF PEACE, on WE WILL NOT BE SILENT. Photos of Dan's lighting designs in all five plays are featured here.
Dan also shared with us some of the most impactful, memorable journeys he has been on:
"Certainly the most impactful journey of late was being rear-ended in South Carolina this last spring! My sister Helen is still suffering from that. People follow too closely on the highway! Abide by the two-second rule (https://w.wiki/B9qb).
But years ago, my wife Terese and my four young (at the time) children were coming down out of the Rocky Mountains in our mini-van, when the engine completely died (turned out it blew a hole in the side of the engine). My sister and eldest son walked down the canyon to try to get cell coverage, and eventually a tow truck came but only had room to take one person, so Terese went to meet the other two. I stayed with the three younger children (ages 10, 8, and 6) on the side of the road until she or my sister could come back and get us.
Eventually it started to rain and the four us crammed under the one raincoat we had and eventually started building things with the grass and sticks, and it became a really fun adventure instead of a dangerous emergency! There were many little miracles that accompanied this adventure as well."
Join us in October at ACTS OF PEACE to experience a journey shaped by Dan Hummel's lighting. Get your tickets here: https://acaciatheatre.easy-ware-ticketing.com/events
