We welcomed the impressive Royal Capital Group interns last week! Their visit to our Milwaukee EA office & active construction sites provided valuable insights into zoning & architecture. Their presentations on designing for a challenging, oddly-shaped site showcased strong critical thinking, creativity and truly impressed the team. The future is in good hands!

Engberg Anderson had a busy week last week attending several events. First up, our Principal, Joe Huberty, gave a talk to a standing-room only crowd at the Wisconsin Association or Public Libraries (WAPL) conference on "10 Secrets to Doing More with Less in Your Library". We're always excited to see such large crowds come out to these conferences and to be able to share our expertise with our clients in person!

Congratulations to our very own Joe Huberty on the release of his new book. Written alongside Fred Schlipf and John A. Moorman, The Practical Handbook of Library Architecture covers everything from planning completely new library buildings to small remodeling projects. Library directors, board members, and planning professionals will want this newly updated resource close at hand before, during, and after any library construction project.

Urban Milwaukee had a fantastic article this week with updates on one of our most high profile projects at the moment ThriveOn. The community spaces are just wrapping up construction, and the ground breaking on the residential side of the development happened last night. If you happen to make your way through the article you'll notice that another one of our projects, the Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy is also mentioned in the article. Big things are happening in the Bronzeville neighborhood!

In honor of denim day, our business development and interior design leaders also attended the Women's Empower Luncheon at the Women's Center yesterday alongside colleagues from Henricksen and VJS Construction Services.

The event is the largest fundraising event of the year for the Women's Center and proceeds benefit survivors by helping them find safety, shelter, and support. We were happy as always to attend and believe strongly in the work the Center does to support people in desperate need of help.

Today Engberg Anderson is recognizing Denim Day to raise awareness for the issue of sexual assault and domestic violence and show solidarity and support for the victims of these crimes. We wear denim today to highlight erroneous instances of victim blaming in the legal system and serve as a reminder that individual's stories should be trusted and taken seriously.

Our firm donned denim and headed to our project at the North End, Denim Park, for this photo. To learn more about Denim Day and it's impact head to denimday.org.

Did you know that the teens over at Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy have their own YouTube channel with construction updates about their school? Or should we say schools? We designed both their new middle school and high school, and we are just as excited as they are to see how much progress is being made at both jobsites.

If you want to follow along on the progress too, check out their YouTube channel for weekly updates! https://buff.ly/3IDMQVc

Our project made the cover of the Illinois Library Association's Reporter magazine this month. The Helen Plum Memorial Library opened last year, and we couldn't be prouder of how it turned out. It's not our only library in the issue either. The Fremont Public Library and Homer Township Public Library also make appearances under the new libraries of 2023 section. All three have made fantastic additions to their communities!

This past weekend we once again participated in Canstruction!

Canstruction is an event wherein local architecture, engineering, and design firms use create sculptures out of non-perishable food items without the use of any adhesives, and in the process donate ten of thousands of items to a local food pantry.

This year the theme was "Can you dig it?" Our team collected 3700 items to create our sculpture of an ant colony entitled "Dig our CAN-tastic pANTry!" All collected items will be going to the Jewish Community Pantry.

While this is event is for charity there are a few bragging rights to be won, including a People's Choice Award. Voting is still open. If you like our design, please vote for us at the link below!
