We recently teamed up with the 100 Black Men of Milwaukee, Inc. and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to embark on an exhilarating fishing adventure with a some of the youth in our wait pool! Through this experience, it was revealed that fishing is not only a thrilling sport but also a powerful teacher of patience and unwavering resilience. 🎣

Between powerful guest speakers and performances, a youth panel, group super sessions, and award ceremonies - It was an incredible week filled with inspiration, learning, and connection. 💚

We teamed up with the 100 Black Men of Milwaukee for a transformative mentoring session with some of the youth in our wait pool. Together, they strategized and worked together in a fun and educational activity, building towers out of sticks and marshmallows.
Through this hands-on experience, youth learned the importance of building a solid foundation and teamwork! 💚

Our Story
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee’s mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
Since 1975, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee has been the premier provider of youth mentoring services in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties. Our mentoring program makes a profound impact in the lives at-risk youth by creating and supporting strong, long-lasting one-to-one relationships between children and caring volunteer adult mentors. Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mentoring program offers three unique one-to-one options: 1)Community-based mentoring, 2)School-based mentoring, 3)mentor2.0. In each, volunteers make a minimum two year commitment to mentoring a child; engage with their mentee 3-4 times per month; and provide role modeling, friendship, and guidance to increase positive youth outcomes. We hold ourselves accountable for each child in our mentoring program achieving educational success, avoidance of risky behavior, and social and emotional development.
