One of our favorite vintage labels here at PVV has got to be Kimberly Knits--the "Rolls Royce of knitwear", according to a Women's Wear Daily quote on the FIDM Museum website! ( fidmmuseum.org/2015/06/bonnie-cashin.html )

Kimberly was founded as a clothing design company in 1946; a New York-based company, it was spearheaded by husband-and-wife design team Jack and Helen Lazar. The Lazars were exemplars of the small boutique era for their fresh yet practical designs in rich colors and fine textiles, like wool and lamé yarns. Among the power-couple's achievements include the Best Sporting Look award from Sports Illustrated in 1960, at the beginning of the rise of soft casuals and athliesure for women. This decade marks their boom, as their cleverly earthy designs were made to capture the attention of the rise of hippie-adjacent sensibilities in the late 60's and early 1970's. This era transitions smoothly into the upwardly-mobile type of women we would see in the economic boom of the late 1970's, during which Kimberly designs flourished into softly luxurious business-casuals and ladies' suit & lounge sets.
Unfortunately, at the cusp of the 80's in 1979, Kimberly was closed down after being bought up by General Mills Corp. in 1972.
Sadly Jack and Helen both passed in the 1990's.

Fortunately, what we do still have are the clothes from the brand's halcyon decades! We have a few items in our shop, pictured here, including this adorable pea-green office suit with jacket and skirt, circa 1960's...
A precious pinky-salmon ultra-textured cardigan and skirt set with tie belt circa 1970's...
And a luxurious chocolate brown Dacron knit lounge set, circa early 70's, late 60's!

These knits are durable, have held up in near perfect condition, and are ready to wear in the upcoming chilly months!
