We support fair trade and local business to help build a healthy global community.
You’ve probably noticed this page has been noticeably silent. It’s time to say it and make it real; make it permanent. The She is Love shop is officially and permanently closed. I was probably the last person who should try to run my own business. There has been a “fad” the last few years, especially for women, to have a “side hustle” as some sort of entrepreneur. It’s actually really sad. There is so much that people don’t tell you (unless you specifically ask) about the big pitfalls. It is hard AF! There are so many laws, licensing, taxes, and other complicated factors to running your own show. This has nothing to do with what women are capable of, because everyone is a bad a$$ in their own way. It’s about going into a decision like this with ALL of the information first. I was one that was fascinated by the possibilities of working for myself, and making my own schedule. Ha. That only comes after years of pain, sacrifice, hard work, more pain, and lots of tears. I cannot tell you how many hours I cried or describe how close I came to loosing everything for this place. I made some pretty poor choices along the way that I paid for.
So, in many ways, I am glad to say this is done for now. I was never one to be tied down to ANYTHING. Marriage? Nope. Homeownership? Nope.
….
I will be having a garage sale at my home in the Twin Cities THIS WEEKEND May 5/6, to clear out what remains of the shop. Lots of fair trade clothing and accessories. Plus supplies, displays, etc.
DM me on my personal page .ann.15 for the address.
….
It’s time for me to finally live the life I want and deserve. Plans have been made. Plane tickets purchased. I’m moving forward.
Feel free to follow my hiking adventures and cooking antics on my personal page .ann.15 .

Thank you to everyone who supported this little shop that was simply not meant to be. I met so many wonderful people during its short life. It means the world to me. Now it’s time to set off and explore!

Happy trails,
Emily ☕️
The baking project to celebrate .hall2 and the opening of her new shop .co is complete and I am so happy! I dropped everything off this afternoon and got a peek at the space. Please go visit her starting tomorrow at 10am. She has worked very hard on this for such a long time. This is a woman who walks the walk and honestly loves her belief that we can make better choices for our planet and our neighbors.
Congratulations, Taylor! 🎉
Prepping for tomorrows demo with Lindt Chocolate at Le Creuset in Eagan! Homemade ricotta is on the stove and ready to be separated!
I also treated my nieces to “partially homemade” mac and cheese pizza tonight. I didn’t have enough time to make my pizza dough due to a migraine last night, but this was still amazing pizza!
The ricotta is straining. The crepe batter is resting. The entire team of shops is ready to welcome you to our demo tomorrow at 1pm and 3pm at in Eagan! Chocolates. Stickers. Coupons. And hopefully you’ll learn something, too!
See you tomorrow!

Join us this Saturday as we roll Loved Baking into the LLC!
Hey everyone! I am finally (maybe, possibly) ready to take the first HUGE baby step towards bringing the shop back. AND thanks to a change in the Minnesota Cottage Food laws last year, I could finally wrap .baking into the shop as an LLC! I am super nervous to put myself back out there after a pretty rough year or more. I’m still feeling pretty vulnerable, but I want to try with a few baby steps.
First baby step: I am teaming up with my friends at Eagan and Eagan at the Eagan Outlet Mall this Saturday to teach how to make some slightly sweet but oh-so-good chocolate ricotta crepes! With the right tools and ingredients, you can make them too!
Come and see my demonstrations at 1pm and 3pm inside Le Creuset Eagan! Sadly, tasting will not be allowed due to food safety laws. However, we will have free samples from our friends at Lindt so you can still enjoy some chocolates! Maybe I’ll have goodies for the kiddos, too!
At heart, I think I’ll always want to be a teacher in my own way, so come and pick my brain and learn something new!
And watch here Friday night as I’m HOPING to do my first OFFICIAL weekly baking drop for pick-up at my house in Eagan! It will be a different batch of goodies each week, sold in 4s. I plan on them being about $10 per box of 4, with 4-5 boxes available each week. The day they drop will be based on my schedule at my day job, the progress of my sick cat (yes, Timmy-the-Cat-in-Chief is sick 😞), and my mental health. I’ll mix up what I make based on my mood, seasons, holidays, or what I want to experience t with at any given time. From cupcakes to cookies to coffee bark…stay tuned for the surprises!
And don’t forget to stop and see me teach you all how to make crepes at Le Creuset Eagan this Saturday! Find event details on our page.
Cheers! 🧁☕️

Hey Friends!
It’s been a very long time since I posted an update about the shop. So here it goes…
… first of all, I am Emily, the sole individual behind She is Love. I do everything myself, so it’s been quite the journey, to say the least!
If you’ve been following us for the last year or so, you may know that we tried to open a physical shop and cafe late last spring. After a failed partnership and a murder on our property, we barely opened our doors before we were forced to close up. We were left with a mountain of debt and some badly retriggered trauma that lead to some very challenging emotional issues. We tried so hard to return last fall, but it was simply too much.
So, in 2022, we decided that the business needed to be entirely set aside to focus on my mental health and paying off the debts we incurred last year. Suddenly the hiatus did not have an end date. Anyone whose gone through trauma and faced severe mental health issues, knows that healing is not linear; it doesn’t go by a timeline or schedule. We’re leaning into the healing process by focusing on what brings us joy and what personal goals we want to achieve.
So…
…I finally took an honest to goodness VACATION to visit one of my besties in Texas.
… I’ve also been seriously working on upping my cooking skills, with a “fun with veggies” focus. But I do have a massive sweet tooth, so my sweets just keep getting better!
…I am crazy busy planning my next great adventure! This August I will be thru hiking the entire 300+ miles of the Superior Hiking Trail along the North Shore of Lake Superior! Follow all of my training and hiking antics on my personal page .ann.15 .
…while the shop is away, please continue to support my amazing family at by ordering from their website. Or if you’re in the Twin Cities you can find select Twin Engine Coffee varieties at your neighborhood !
…after I return from my big hike, hopefully everything will be amazing and the shop can reopen online this fall.
❤️
Thanks for your love & support!
Emily

Celebrate International Coffee Day...with Turtles??
Did you know that International Coffee Day falls in the middle of Nicaragua’s Sea Turtle nesting season?
Not everything is about coffee here at Twin Engine Coffee. Sometimes it is about Turtles!
What do Twin Engine Coffee and Sea Turtles have in common?
Quite a bit actually. Twin Engine Coffee makes organic specialty coffee at the source in Nicaragua. Day in, day out. We bring our coffees down from the mountains and roast them in León. Las Peñitas, one of the beaches in our community, about 12 miles from the Twin Engine Coffee Roastery. Here, mama sea turtles are coming nightly to lay their nests and our local community is trying to protect them. This is about as ‘globally local’ as it gets.
Why are we writing about the Sea Turtles?
An important question. Aside from being cute enough to melt the most adult heart speaking from experience), sea turtle babes are in trouble. Since a big part of our mission is to connect you to real life at the source & advocate for awareness, we want to tell you about this hyper-local happening just a little bit beyond the coffee mountains.
And, to ask for your help.
You can read more about the issue in our blog (link in bio), but the bottom line is ....You can share in the sea turtle feel good by adopting a nest.
Individuals, groups, classes, stores...come one, come all!
When they hatch, we will send you a video of their sweet release into the ocean!
All details can be found in the link in our bio. In this case, adoption is easy. :)
From our [globally local] coffee community & the turtles, Thank you!!

Subscribe to our email list at the link in our bio OR come to The World Jubilee fair trade market - outdoor edition - THIS SUNDAY from 11am to 3pm at the St. Louis Park community center! This is going to be fun!

Cute. Cozy. Totally relaxed.
We are so excited to relaunch the shop next week with a fresh collection of products focused on helping you feel beautiful and relaxed! If we’ve learned one thing during our hiatus, it is that time off to do the things you love and really recharge your soul is critical! This fall we will focus on helping you feel your best at home as the chilly weather begins. Look for everything cozy, a touch of cute glam, and a bunch of soothing rejuvenation! Our collection will be limited and highly curated, and maybe a little seasonal, too. Then in January we will take another little hiatus as you follow us around Nicaragua with the team!
May the new seasons ahead be filled with balance, beauty, and joy!
We’re excited to be working on some fun new things for you, launching in October! Still coffee. Still fair trade. But a bit more fun! The shop will be more reflective of us going forward. The fall collections will likely be small and limited as we might be in Nicaragua with the team for most of January, so we don’t want a bunch of carry over after the holidays. Want an early look? Join us next weekend, Sunday, September 26 from 11am to 4pm with all of our favorite fair trade friends at the outdoor edition of The World Jubilee fair trade market at the St. Louis Park community center! More info coming soon! We cannot wait to show you what we’re working on! 🤗
We are wrapping up, possibly, our last hiatus adventure, and preparing to get back down to work in the days and weeks ahead. You can now find an update about our pending return live on the website. You can help us during the rebuilding phase in the weeks ahead by purchasing gift cards at the link on our website. Begin using them as soon as our new collection of products launches in the coming weeks, and hopefully a fresh batch of will be here before the snow flies! Emily will also have a new blog up soon!

Next Saturday, following the Race to End Su***de, we are headed back to the trail! 50 miles in 5 1/2 days? With a 30 pound pack? As long as lots of makes it in, we will be fine. 😉 Which roasts should we take this time? 🤔 Decisions, decisions, decisions!
…

We a proud to announce that She is Love, along with our founder Emily, will be joining forces with next week on September 11 for A Race to End Su***de in honor of Jordyn Clark at Central Park. We will be donating a coffee station for all guests and Emily will be running the 5k. Emily herself is a survivor and has battled mental illness for almost 25 years. We are very proud to lend our voices to Jordyns family and community to bring more awareness to su***de prevention. It CAN get better. But people need ACCESS to the resources that are available. Things like race, socioeconomic status, gender, and stigma all play a role in access to these resources. We MUST start openly talking about our mental health challenges and listening when those we love are brave enough to open up to us. There is no shame. Depression, anxiety, panic…none of this is different than a physical ailment like diabetes or a broken arm. The thing is that those ailments are VISIBLE on tests and scans, so our culture treats them differently. When was the last time you brought cookies or a casserole to a friend following a panic attack or in the middle of a major depressive episode? See. That’s the problem.
Register, donate, and join us next Saturday to honor Jordyn, those she loved, and all those whom we’ve lost to this terrible illness and give hope to those to struggle everyday.
💙

Today I made a mistake. I agreed to meet with an organization about my struggles as a small business owner and the impact of what happened in Uptown. Why was this a mistake? Because I wasn’t ready. Trauma looks different on every human. And processing that is different as well. The fact is that I am far from healed from the various traumas the project in Uptown inflicted upon me. My conversation with this group proved it. Instead of relief after the conversation I felt all of the pain, dread, and fear all over again. When an incident that is beyond your control robs you of almost everything and barely a soul is there to support or acknowledge the catastrophic nature of what happened, the weight and toll of the event is unfathomable. And the sad fact is that I am still fighting part of the situation. I am fighting for closure still almost 2 months after I closed my doors. I want to move on and heal. I want to start over. I want to feel like ME again sometime this year. Trauma is real. Healing doesn’t follow timelines and stick to deadlines.
My hope is that I will be strong enough to start working on the business again by the end of September, and bring more beautiful , , and creations and content back to you all. These are people I love dearly and a mission that is rooted deep in my soul. But right now I have to heal myself before I can help anyone else. I have to finally pay the bills, and allow my soul to be whole again. That day will come. Until then I will paint and bake.

Just a little reminder that the shop is on an extended “vacation” for about another month yet while we try to recover from what happened in Uptown early this summer. The burnout has been severe, and we’re learning how hard the recovery process is. It’s so much more than a long weekend away to rebuild from 5 long months of going hard and giving everything of ourselves. We almost lost everything.
Sooooo, we’re still trying to get our energy back before we begin fixing the problems we were left with. (Emily’s health got super scary there after the backpacking trip. 😱) Hopefully soon we will be ready to start rebuilding so we can have some fresh and other goodies for you for the holiday season. We really need to have everything back at zero and fresh before we start over with a new plan for all of you. Unfortunately our health does not follow anyone’s schedule. ☹️ We’re keeping our distance from devices and relationships that do not serve our best interests. We’re living each day to simply BE.
Enjoy the lazy mornings in bed.
Enjoy the miracle of rainy days (I dunno about you, but MN is in a horrible drought!)
Enjoy a well-written book.

Enjoy the taste of your morning Twin Engine Coffee.
Enjoy simply being alive.
