We are honored to share that our very own Khadija Ali, President and CEO of Global Language Connection, was invited to be the guest speaker at the symposium on The Economic and Social Impacts of Diaspora-Led Trade and Investment, held in Paris, France last May 25, 2023.

Hosted by OECD Development Centre in partnership with Minnesota Africans United (MAU) and the World’s Fair Fund, the event aimed to promote and explore the potential of diaspora-led trade and investment in driving economic and social development in Africa.

Khadija's vast experience in language services and her dedication to promoting cultural understanding and communication across borders made her the perfect choice to share her insights on the topic.

We are proud to see her represent GLC and contribute to the conversation on global economic growth!

We talk a lot about how language services are necessary to overcome cultural barriers and improve understanding, but in many cases, speaking the same language as your healthcare team could be the difference between success and failure. This is the reason our work is so important and why we take so much pride in our services. All hospitals and clinics must have the capacity to provide quality, culturally competent service to all patients.

The Pandemic Imperiled Non-English Speakers In A Hospital Data from a Boston hospital showed that Latino patients who did not speak English well had a 35% greater risk of death from COVID-19. The hospital has added interpretation capacity.

Global Language Connections has been incredibly busy lately as we have worked to help our immigrant community get vaccinated against Covid-19. It was an honor for us to assist the communities around us and provide the support needed to make sure they can not only access information about the vaccination but also go through the process of vaccination.

We need to work together to ensure vulnerable members of the community stay connected to the healthcare systems. We’re proud to be in the fight to reduce transmission and get back to normal as soon as possible. Through our work, we have helped vaccinate over 300 people per week, amounting to 5000 people total so far. It’s essential that no Minnesotans, including our immigrant communities, get left behind.

At GLC, we know there has been a lot of news about several new vaccines that are starting to be distributed. Unfortunately, there has also been a lot of misinformation and mistrust surrounding these vaccines. We are working behind the scenes to ensure that, when the time comes, people understand how the vaccines work and have the access and knowledge they need to be informed and stay safe.
