Stay Warm - Weather changes quickly during this dry season so wear extra layers. Keeping a scarf around the neck and chest offers extra protection and makes a bold fashion statement. According to Chinese Medicine, wind penetrates through the back of the neck and brings with it environmental pathogens that can lead to vulnerability to catching illness. Cover up and protect your skin.

Practice Slowing Down - Exercise is important at this time but as the world around us slows down, we should reflect the pace and not run from it. Try calmer forms of exercise – yoga, Qi Gong, nature walks taking in the beauty of color changes of the trees or watching a sunrise/sunset. Seek inspiration and beauty all around you. Embrace the transition. 🍁🍁

Late Summer- Season of Sustenance and Balance-
As the busy and bright yang energy of summer days begin to wind down, we enter the last warm days of summer, called Late Summer. In Chinese Medicine, Late Summer is called the “fifth season,” a time of balance of both the Yang and Yin energies. It is in the center - balancing the other four seasons – a time of transformation and harvest.  

This “fifth season” helps us slow down so we may nurture the inward and reflective energies of approaching autumn and winter.

The transition to fall and winter may not be easy, especially in these trying times: Pandemic-related uncertainty, stress around climate change and the overall state of the world, worrying about our own health and that of those we care for, getting the kids back to school in a safe manner, and navigating changes in work schedules, all mean that nurturing our own health is of the utmost importance. 

The Late Summer corresponds to the Earth element and resonates with the Spleen/Stomach meridians.

Here are a few tips to ground you and enhance your health in this time:
⁃ Slow down. Nourish your body with the bounty of this season
⁃ Transform worry into doable action, reframe thoughts, and mindfully observe so as to shift and let go of patterns, habits, and thoughts that do not serve your higher self
⁃ Balance meeting your own needs with contributing to the greater good
⁃ Practice gratitude, remembering all the goodness that truly is present enhances contentment

Please take care of yourself. Starting with self creates an energetic flow of universal consciousness of collective responsibility, love, and rootedness.

Cupping-
It was amazing to see so many athletes at the 2020 Olympics embracing Cupping! Cupping reduces aches and pains, relieves tight muscles, and supports athletic performance and recovery.

Cupping is one of the essential modalities within East Asian Medicine as it offers many health benefits.

It promotes healthy blood circulation, balances the energy flow
of your body, and is super relaxing for your whole nervous system.

Cupping therapy can truly help relieve stress and anxiety while also offering you a moment of deep rest.
It also helps to strengthen the immune system and digestion, aids in the prevention of colds and flus, and effectively addresses coughs, chest congestion, and phlegm, as well as stimulating the lymphatic system to cleanse the body of toxins.

Monthly Cupping treatments on the back and chest area can also aid in proactive and preventive treatment for women’s breast health.

Cupping therapy is also a safe and effective treatment for pregnant women suffering with with back and hip pain.

After over a year of the pandemic, it is more important than ever to celebrate brightness, express joy, luxuriate in nature, and play with others…

Hope you are all enjoying this wonderful warmth and the full bloom of summer☀️
It is lovely to see people smile and connect with family, friends, and neighbors far and near.
Touch is my love language so I’m relishing in hugs🌸

And yet, with the rapidly evolving situation and the lifting of mask mandates, learning how to be in the world again may also feel a bit confusing, daunting, and stressful.

Acupuncture treatments and Chinese Medicine can offer a moment of pause and reprieve, supporting your mind, body, and heart for deep calm and relaxation.

I am now fully vaccinated. Over the course of this rapidly evolving situation, I will continue to prioritize your safety. The CDC, the State of Minnesota, and City of Minneapolis have all lifted their mask mandates for vaccinated people. It is a huge milestone to celebrate. While it is a great feeling to know that we are moving forward with positive change, it is also true that the pandemic is not yet entirely behind us.  Following CDC guidelines for healthcare workers and health care facilities, and in furtherance of public health, masks will still be required for all coming into this clinic during the duration of our session - whether you are vaccinated or not.
Masking remains an important element of keeping everybody safe. I will continue to assess the situation and change the protocols as needed. Thank you for your trust and cooperation!❤️
