The Zickos drum company, established by Bill Zickos in the late 1960s, revolutionized drumming with the world's first acrylic drum sets. These visually striking and sonically unique drums became iconic in the 1970s, used by stars like Keith Moon of The Who and Nick Mason of Pink Floyd. Zickos's innovation lay in the durable, clear acrylic materials, offering a bright, punchy sound distinct from traditional wood drums.
Despite their initial popularity, the demand for acrylic drums decreased by the 1980s, and Zickos drums became niche, collectible items sought after for their historical and aesthetic value. Today, a Zickos acrylic drum kit is not just an instrument but a piece of musical innovation, appealing to collectors and players desiring a unique sound and visual presence.

For Drummers, By Drummers
We think Twin Cities drummers have been waiting for something different in the world of drums and drumming! Remember old-school drum shops that cultivated a cool vibe and were a fun hang? That’s what we’re shooting for at The Collective!
Since May of this year TC/DC has developed 3, yes 3(!) new brands of drums, each with their own identity, building features, and look and feel: Twin Cities Drum Company, 651Drums, and Modern Vintage Drums.
At the same time, we are working on curating a drum shop that is a destination for Minnesota and Wisconsin drummers and beyond by focusing on custom and vintage drums, cymbals, and accessories not found in big-box drum stores.
And what’s next for us? How about events, clinics, and education for drummers? Stay tuned because we are just getting started, and we hope to see you down at your local drum shop soon!
