Transform Minnesota with host churches including Calvary Baptist are holding a Juneteenth event at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 2600 38th Street Minneapolis, Minnesota 55406 on Wednesday, June 19th at 7 PM.

Calvary Baptist Church is a Southside Coalition Partner supporting summer events with this night being one of their key events. We invite and encourage all ages of Calvary folks, friends, and neighbors to come to this community event which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

Wennstorm uses everyday household objects to create art that explores motherhood. Her work brings these items out of their typical contexts to explore the physical and emotional clutter mothers navigate with young children; while reflecting on overconsumption and the demands placed on maternal caretakers.The counterbalance of women being seen as languid models verse mothers with an abundance of demands demonstrates the wide range of how women have been treated for millennia.

The restoration of our 1903 steeple is going to new heights as the scaffolding now extends to the steeple peak 110' above Blaisdell Avenue. Next week they'll start on masonry and metal restoration, plus new shingles, all at once!

Many thanks to Calvary folks and Whittier partners for working together on Saturday to clean up our neighborhood. A vibrant group of all ages joined together to work on a blustery day and then warmed up with hot cocoa, Earth Day crafts, and pizza together at Calvary.

Once again it was wonderful to see prophetic theater in our beautiful sanctuary on Wednesday night. Honored to have ST and Tylie present as they put into story a small but very important part of ST's life growing up in Jim Crow Mississippi. Historic Minneapolis church seeks support for steeple renovation Calvary Baptist Church has invested $1.5 million to renovate the interior, but outside not much has been done.

We invite you to a lunch and learn about both the housing crisis and solutions. In John 14:2, Jesus states, ”In my Father’s house there are many rooms, if it were not so would I have told you I go prepare a place for you.” Here on earth, should not all have a place to call home with shelter from the heat in the summer and cold in the winter? A safe and stable home is the right of every Minnesotan.
