Small Paul’s first wrestling meet. Got pinned in his first match, won his second, and opponent no showed for the third. Go Tigers! 🐅🤼♂️
Popularity doesn’t determine value. Just cause the algorithms don’t favor someone, it don’t mean they’re not good at what they do. Not a single soul in the venue needs to know who I am before I perform. They’ll know after. It’s All Go rhythm on stage.
Big love to Marcy School for the Arts for bringing me back to do three performances today. Some of the livest young ones ever!
What it’s like to have two straight A students!! Tez also got voted student body president!! Well on their way to being a heart surgeon ❤️🩹 and mechanic/artist 🧰🎨 and that’s $100 💰 each. Abundance my boys 👏🏽👏🏽

I’m on the board of The InteRoots Initiative and InteRoots has worked closely with the TaSCA project to help bring their community’s vision to life. TaSCA has been successful and they just need one final push to get to the finish line!
InteRoots is a U.S. based initiative that partners with projects and funders both domestically and internationally. We work with communities - on their own terms - as they develop and implement sustainable solutions for self-identified needs.
InteRoots has also been a significant supporter of Dream Warriors, helping us to get Covid relief funds to Indian Country during the pandemic, and much more, thanks to the leadership of Tanaya J. Winder and Lyla June.

Just watched Bye Bye Barry. They did a good job with it. Barry Sanders almost conned 7-8 year old me into being a Lions fan. That’s how he good he was. Thankfully my oldest brother taught me right from wrong but even as a Vikings fan, anytime the Lions happened to be on the TV I was paying attention just because of him. Watching this film felt like watching a small part of my childhood. Thank you Barry. Greatest running back of all time.

A lot of Natives are either supportive or indifferent to pretendianism and it’s become pretty clear. I can’t play the fence. If you’re not of a particular people and therefore haven’t suffered the exact intergenerational trauma encoded in their blood, then you can’t claim to be one of them. If you misrepresent yourself and leave space for ambiguity and uncertainty with respect to your ancestry, then you deserve to be held accountable. Especially if you’re using those grey areas to navigate your way into places and resources intended for them. Blood quantum might be colonial but using that fact to defend your fraud is colonial too. If a Dakota artist was given half a million dollars to create Aztec art to be placed on Aztec land, I’d imagine it would p**s a lot of Aztec people off, and rightfully so. I don’t care if someone’s been adopted into a Native family or tribe. If they ain’t genetically tied to those people then they can never fully be one of them. It’s cooler to be honest about your ancestry and become fluent in the language and culture of a community who’s accepted you and supported you. But do it without stealing awards, money and other resources. Otherwise you ain’t really about it. I’ve respected every non-Ojibwe person I’ve met who’s known more of our language, culture and/or history than I do, but it don’t make them Ojibwe. While many of us grew up trying to survive, a lot of these people were privileged to spend time learning all these things about us because they were raised in comfortable situations that allowed them to explore their possibilities from the jump. Just be real about who you are and you’ll be accepted and respected. If you can’t do that then there’s no question to me that you’re in it for personal gain. I said what I said.

A lot of people don’t seem to realize I was clowning with this post, and that’s a bit concerning lol

Yesterday I performed at a school for the second time this year and I shared my story of attending roughly 30 different schools as a youth. I told the students I was always on the move and that I became generally disengaged and introverted as a result. I let them know that I never imagined performing and speaking in front of thousands of people like I do today, and that I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t face my fears and get out of my comfort zone. Fear is False Evidence Appearing Real. All it took was signing up for that first open mic. Between songs I invited students to get out of their seats and dance to the music if they wanted to, I even said they could get up on stage with me. One student almost immediately jumped up and started doing his thing during my next song. A trend setter! In a matter of minutes more than half of the auditorium was rocking with me on stage. Later in the day a parent shared this story with me (pictured below) and it was humbling. We’re all capable of more than we can imagine fam. Good morning.

Afternoon world! It’s a good day to have a good day. Chi-miigwech to Sam and Richfield Middle School for having me back for another performance and speaking engagement this year. The students brought that energy! Had more than half the auditorium on stage wilding out with me at one point, good times good times.

5,000+ innocent children being murdered is unspeakable
Nothing against 3 stacks but I think the notion of “I don’t have anything to rap about at age 48” is bs. In my opinion it insinuates that rap is an art form for less mature and relatively inexperienced people. You can rap about meditation, taking care of the fam and all that. Matter of fact, rap could use a lot more of that. P.S. no one cares about your review of an album that you don’t care for. Lol.
Good times in SoCal! Chi-miigwech to the University of California-Riverside, Pomona College and Sherman Indian High School for inviting me out to perform and speak. Gratitude!

First it’s impossible.
Then it’s difficult.
Then it’s done.
What a week. Someone hit and ran my parked car. Had to file a claim against my insurance and will pay $500+ out of pocket for the deductible and a rental. But I’m still beyond extremely fortunate. I have the resources to cover this unexpected burden, and my kids, family and community aren’t being indiscriminately murdered by bombs. Cease-fire now. Free Palestine. 🇵🇸
That time of year again 👻🎃
If a teen knocks at your door there’s no need to ask them if this is their last year trick or treating or to make rude comments about them being too big. Both of these things happened to my 15 year old son who was only 13 at the time! Remember they’re choosing childhood fun over partying or who knows what else. Don’t be THAT a**hole!
People have posted this screenshot from her sister’s page in her defense. All it means is that her sister’s DNA was tested against 30 Native population categories. The gray dots mean her DNA didn’t match any of those markers. If there was a match the dot would’ve been colored like the ones above it.
NATIVES, let’s not display our IGNORANCE by questioning the character of other Natives who don’t exclusively post about genocide.
Because again, genocide is and has been occurring all over the world for centuries. Not only recently, and not only in Palestine.
🇵🇸
Pretending 60+ years of Indigenous identity and resource theft ain’t a big deal because genocide is occurring in sudan/palestine/ukraine etc is a weird look. Countless Natives have been overlooked for life changing opportunities because Eurocentrism prioritizes whiteness.
My lady said PSL’s are tradish cause pumpkins are Indigenous and who am I to argue
Israel blacked out Gaza and continues to murder innocent people with air strikes while invading on the ground with tanks. A fourth of the population in Gaza is age 10 and under.
Free Palestine 🇵🇸
Being adopted “Native way” doesn’t make anyone Native. Strategically seeking out that adoption and using it in one’s defense for business purposes is extremely colonial. Indian Country can’t be so thirsty for leadership and stars that we’ll overlook a white person who made a fortune off of our cultures by accepting numerous awards and resources that were meant for our people.
I feel bad for the countless Natives who idolized Buffy Saint-Marie, and I feel fortunate she wasn’t a figure in my life growing up. At best, an amazing musician and ally. At worst, a misguided sociopath who disowned her biological family in pursuit of fame and fortune, and who engaged in Native advocacy for her own benefit. The final boss of “pretendians.”
Who is the real Buffy Sainte-Marie? Buffy Sainte-Marie’s claims to Indigenous ancestry are being contradicted by members of the iconic singer-songwriter's own family and an extensive CBC investigation.
Strange when people who rap say things like “I’m not a rapper/hip hop artist.” Like they need to distance themselves from a genre they obviously appreciate. I get it. Funders don’t always like hip hop/rap, so some feel the need to disassociate from it. But when rappers do this they’re part of the problem. Proud rapper here. I didn’t choose rhyming, rhyming chose me, and I’ll continue to be a solution to the problem.
