Hey all! We're setting up a gear share for our upcoming Bikepacking Event, let us know if you have spare bags to lend our prospective Bikepackers! It helps a ton, and helps keep the barrier of entry low for people who are trying something new.
The form also doubles as a way to let us know if there's anything specific you'd like to borrow!
This is also a helpful reminder that we will have a SAG wagon that is available to carry any gear that your bike cannot!
Gear Share - Behind Bars Carver Caravan Please fill out this form if you are interested in borrowing gear, or if you have gear that you are willing to lend out for this trip. If you are lending gear, a Behind Bars Bike Shop ambassador will follow up with you after you fill out this sheet to organize gear drop off at behind bars, if someon...
As part of our Intro to Bikepacking series, Behind Bars and the helpful Shop Ambassadors are hosting two gear shakedown sessions!
Bring your bike and your camping equipment, and we'll spend the first part of each evening helping each other to secure our gear to our bikes. Then we will spend the second part of each evening doing a short ride to make sure everything works. First-time bikepackers are STRONGLY encouraged to attend at least one of these events, in order to avoid any mishaps during our group bikepacking trip.
Speaking of which, registration is now open for what we are calling the Grand Carver Caravan! So if you haven't already, click the link in our bio, or head to our page to find our event, and click Eventbrite link to reserve your spot (cost is $45 for two nights).
Ya don't say........
Like to bike? Your knees will thank you and you may live longer, too New research shows lifelong bikers have healthier knees, less pain and a longer lifespan, compared to people who've never biked. This adds to the evidence that cycling promotes healthy aging.
Don’t miss our annual spring sale! We’ve got deals that will make you want to ride off into the sunset. Bikes for 10-30% off. Everything else on the floor 25% off*. Sale starts Friday at 11. *Excludes THC products and labor.

Bikepacking Season is here! And we're here for you!
Behind Bars Bicycle Shop and our helpful crew of Shop Ambassadors are putting together our first bikepacking trip of the season! Of which, registration will be open soon!
We'll also be hosting a slew of relaxed intro classes every Sunday evening for the next few weeks which are free and open to anyone! We also don't see a reason not to end them with a group ride.
---
CLASSES: We'll share our own experiences, go over topics like bike choice, gear & storage, basic & emergency repair, nutrition, shelter, and anything else that comes up in a friendly Q&A style sit-down.
So, for anyone who is bikepacking-curious, the goal of the classes is to leave you feeling confident in taking simple overnight trips to any of the great many parks that we have easy riding access to. And hopefully join us on our group trip in June!
Currently, half of the planned registration slots for the trip are being held for first-time bike packers only! We do ask first-time riders to sit in for at least a class or two and for sure our shakedown rides before the trip. There will be plenty of mechanics, support, and a SAG wagon along the way to have your introduction to this aspect of cycling (that we adore so much!) as awesome as possible!
---
THE TRIP: The trip itself will take place the weekend of June 14-16th, and it will be around a 30 mile trip to Carver Park Reserve, where we have ample space for more than a few dozen riders! Plenty of time to swim, ride, hit the MtB trails, visit Victoria (only 2 miles away!) for a greasy burger, or to pick up some sweet bonfire bevvies! While this trip is open to riders of all experience levels, this will be an 18+ event.

We hope to see you soon, and to help make this a great Summer of Bikepacking!

Today's stop is the Sabo Bike Bridge, the usual meetup spot for Bonesaw's Tuesday night group rides (aka, TONIGHT) which will take place on the last Tuesday of every month this summer.
Bonesaw Cycling Collective is an exemplary group of cyclists focused on inclusivity, community support, and breaking down barriers of entry towards new and marginalized cyclists.
The work they do is pretty kick-ass and it's worth checking out their page for upcoming events, clinics, and group rides.
The winner of today's raffle will win free-entry into their Halloween themed Alley-Cat race: the Scaredy-Cat!
