It's time now to introduce our third panelist for our Women in STEM event on Thursday.
Please meet Aparna Lohmor, a Computer Science major at the University of Minnesota! Aparna is expected to graduate in 2024 and has industry experience at the U, and will be completing a software engineering internship this summer. She also has experience as a teaching assistant and has received several awards including the Global Excellence Scholarship and the Grace Hopper Conference Scholarship. Her hometown is in New Delhi, India.

It's time to introduce our second panelist for Thursday's Women in STEM event!
Our second panelist is Minali Ganguly. Minali is from Houston, Texas and is currently majoring in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota. Minali has completed a co-op experience at Wunderlich-Malec Engineering, Inc. and plans to graduate in May 2023. Outside of school Minali is engaged with various organizations, such as Engineers Without Borders USA, Society of Women Engineers, University of Minnesota Emergency Medical Services, Special Olympics UMN, and more. Just amazing!

We've already introduced our amazing keynote, Emily Anne Vargas , for our Women in STEM event, and now we're excited to introduce our panel speakers! First up is Dani Alfonzo Mudoy.
Dani hails from Edina, Minnesota and is currently a student at the University of Minnesota majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Dani is also a participant of the prestigious Chinese Flagship program at the U. Dani intends to graduate in May 2023 and has industry experiences in medical device design, medical device prototyping, and process development. Outside of her studies Dani is heavily involved with Engineer without Borders, has worked on 2 water distribution projects in Guatemala, and took a gap year in Taiwan.
We cannot wait to learn more about Dani's journey in STEM!

Attention all LS-NSSA Scholars!
Thanks to a collaboration between the Louis Stokes North Star STEM Alliance and Minnesota's Discovery, Research, and InnoVation Economy (MnDRIVE), LS-NSSA scholars can participate in an exclusive paid 8-week summer research internship with faculty at the University of Minnesota. This program was created just for North Star STEM scholars, and is funded by NSF and the 3M Foundation.
Upon completion of the research internship, scholars will receive a $4,000 stipend. Campus housing and/or a housing stipend will also be provided for students who do not live in the Twin Cities metro.

Are you interested in public health, medicine, infectious disease or epidemiology? Or are you just interested in learning how to do research in general? We have an exciting research opportunity available to all Level 1 scholars (aka y'all) for the spring 2022 semester and summer 2022.
Apply to our Tiny Earth research program, designed and created just for our LS-NSSA scholars! This academic year we will be holding Tiny Earth in both spring 2022 and summer 2022. Applications for Tiny Earth open November 1. Tiny Earth is a short-term (4-6 week) introduction to research experience funded by the 3M Foundation. You will be alongside other LS-NSSA scholars from all over the state of MN and get the chance to design and present your own epidemiological research study. Upon completion of the program each participant will receive a $925 stipend.

The TRIO McNair Scholars Program and Louis Stokes NorthStar STEM Alliance are hosting a series of Virtual Bridge to the Doctorate Workshops over the course of Academic Year 2021-22.
These 90-minute sessions are geared towards students who identify as first-generation college students, Pell-eligible, and/or from an underrepresented community who are seeking a pathway to transform systems and are considering a doctorate degree or going to graduate school.

Interested in a MS or PhD? The Biomedical Graduate Research, Education and Training (BGREAT) is hosting a virtual Diversity Conference in the Biomedical Sciences on Sept 30 - Oct 1. The registration deadline to present has been extended until Sept 9th (even though the form states Sept 3rd). Instead of the poster competition, they will have a poster presentation workshop where the attendees will practice their presentations and receive feedback. Submit your research to present and get the opportunity to network with faculty and undergraduate researchers from other minority-serving universities!

The Ilic Research Group in the Mechanical Engineering Department is seeking highly motivated undergraduate students to assist with research in nano scale optics and mechanics. We are a multidisciplinary team of undergraduate and graduate students and researchers.
Duties and responsibilities for this position include: performing computer simulations, making prototypes, performing experiments, data analysis, presenting and communicating results.
This position is open to students of all majors within CSE. Basic familiarity with coding, CAD software, 3D printing, and mechanical prototyping is helpful but not required. Pay is $15/hr. Work hours 10-15 hours a week. Fall semester placement with opportunity to continue in Spring 2022 (contingent upon performance).
