It's certainly been a challenging four months with schools shutdown in Guatemala, but our teachers and staff have embraced the technology. They have been holding virtual meetings during the week that focus on training and curriculum as well as fellowship and prayer. We are so blessed by their dedication.

Missing our kiddos so much!
This has certainly been unprecedented times in which we are living today and distance learning has been a challenge. What a blessing it is when we receive photos and updates from our kids we serve. We miss them terribly and can't wait to be together again.
Please take a moment to read this update from New Life in Guatemala.
Good morning to our family, friends, prayer warriors and supporters. We wanted to give you a quick update regarding COVID-19 here in Guatemala. First off, our teachers, staff and students are doing well. Our teachers meet virtually a couple times a week and our students are doing in home learning as well.
As of yesterday, we reached just under 2,000 cases. This past Thursday, the President, without warning, locked down the entire country until this morning at 5am. For this coming week, we are permitted to travel within the departments in which we live from 5am-5pm and grocery stores and markets will be open for people to purchase food and other necessities. Other essential services are also open. This coming weekend, the country will be on lock down once again and we will be restricted to our homes. Many families are dependent on selling their goods, produce, etc to be able to have food on the table and sadly, many people are starving. Malnutrition has tripled in Guatemala since January.
We are not posting this information to invoke fear, but rather to inform and to ask for prayer for Guatemala and its people. Pray for those who are hungry; pray for those in dangerous living situations; pray for healthcare workers and first responders; pray for the government officials making decisions daily; pray for missionaries, pastors and churches; pray for our families and communities we serve in Santa Maria de Jesus; pray for revival; and pray that God be glorified and people come to know Him in a more intimate and personal way. Let our fear turn into faith.
We are all missing each other and we can't wait to get back to doing what we do - caring for these kids...face-to-face.
Check out the April Update from GOT Ministries - https://mailchi.mp/141372364ff0/hello-friends-we-have-got-news-for-you-4902337
Good morning, friends. It is our prayer that you are doing well and are safe and healthy. Please let us know how we can be praying for you. You can reply below, or send us a private message or email.
Also, the president of Guatemala addressed the country last night and we wanted to keep you updated as to the state of the country during this COVID-19 pandemic.
For Guatemala, all restrictions previously put in place will remain for at least the next week. This includes no public transportation, traveling only in the department in which you live, only essential businesses are to be open, beaches and parks closed and more. The newest requirement is that masks must be worn 100% of the time out in public or fines will be enforced. Schools, however, will remain closed through the entire month of April. We have nearly 160 cases as of last night and more than 15,000 people are in quarantine as a precaution.
New Life School teachers and staff are in contact with students to assist virtually in continued learning and the teachers are hard at work with their own continuing education training.
During these uncertain times, we continue to use our God-given wisdom as we make decisions regarding GOT Ministries and New Life School. We are adhering to the government restrictions put in place to keep us healthy and safe. Most importantly, we are trusting our Sovereign God. May all people draw near to Him during this time and always. God bless.
Good morning friends. Another quick update from Guatemala. Yesterday we had a spike in cases and are now at 70. Typically, this week, there would be millions of people flocking to Antigua to see the sawdust carpets and processions. Instead, the Guatemalan president announced that during this week before Resurrection Sunday, no one is permitted to travel outside their department in which they live and Antigua is completely closed to non-residents.
We know that businesses are hurting and there are so many families who are hungry and our hearts are breaking. We may not understand, but we must trust in our living God and draw near to Him, His Word and His promises - not just during this time, but always. We want to encourage you to draw close to your family this week and remember the sacrifice He made for you. God bless.
Just a quick update to our US friends. The president extended our shelter at home in Guatemala until April 12. There is a possibility it will be extended, but we won't know until closer to the date. There are just under 50 cases here and the government, police, hospital workers and many volunteers are doing an amazing job. The teachers at New Life are busy with at home studies and training as well and are able to stay connected through virtual meetings. We continue to pray for the Santa Maria community, Guatemala, the US and the world during this time.
Lastly, if you have any prayer requests, please comment below. We want to be able to pray for you and any specific needs you may have. God bless.
A Special Update from Guatemala - https://mailchi.mp/cbc427dd90c7/hello-friends-we-have-got-news-for-you-4884942
Hello friends. Just a quick update. We are all doing well here in Guatemala. The president continues to make wise decisions to keep the people here safe and contain the COVID-19 virus. Presently, there are 19 cases here in Guatemala. Public transportation continues to be halted, the majority of businesses remain closed and a strict 4pm-4am curfew has been put in place for at least the next week.
We continue to pray for our countries and governments as they battle this pandemic. We also pray for those battling this infection. We keep those in prayer who can't leave their homes or small villages to purchase essential needs. May God give us this wisdom, power and grace we need to minister to others, serve others and show others the love of Christ. God bless.
Hello friends, prayer partners and supporters. We know you have received an over abundance of news regarding the Coronavirus, but we wanted to provide a quick update regarding the state of Guatemala. On March 13, we were notified of the first COVID-19 case in country. That person was quickly quarantined at a hospital facility and precautions were immediately put into place - classes have been suspended for the next three weeks. Also, the borders are closed, gatherings of more than 100 people have been cancelled including church services, sporting events, concerts, etc., malls and shopping centers have also been closed and public transportation halted.
As of today, there are six known COVID-19 cases and they are quarantined in the local hospital. Life here is cautious but calm. We are not living in a state of fear, but using the wisdom God has instilled in us to provide the best care for our families, friends and neighbors. We are so grateful for the quick action of the Guatemalan president and supporting government who put these restrictions in place. The president has also been addressing the country daily. We will update you on any new information as we receive it. God bless.
Hello family and friends. We wanted to reach out and share that Stephanie, Andrew and Megan are safe and happy in Guatemala. We have been impressed with the Guatemalan president’s response to the pandemic. Don’t worry, we still have lots to do and will continue to be working hard for our families. The school has been shut down for the next 20 days, which means the celebration has also been postponed, and most public transportation and stores have shut down as well. There are only a very few cases here in Guatemala and the country is being very proactive. Our children and families are safe. We love you all and appreciate your prayers and support from afar.
