It’s First Friday and SSB is doing what the kids say is a collab with author Katie Kirwan to raise money, and awareness for No Kid Hungry]. Proceeds of the sale of our challenge dish(seen here) will go to No Kid Hungry], Katie will also be in the lobby to talk about her childrens book from 5-8.
Our challenge dish was inspired by the Go-Go’s, Schrute Farms, and all the other beet pioneers fighting the good fight. We would also like to thank Chilies, Fennel, Onion, and Blood Orange. Without your support, our dish wouldn’t be up here today!!

This Darryl Award for best Vegan Dish goes out to our Mapo Tofu Dumplings.
It is straight science that these little nuggets are one if not the best bites on the SSB menu.
We get to mess around and use some of our favorite pantry items in the construction of this dish too. Doubanjang, Black Vinegar, Fermented Black Beans. Plus a mix of roasted Miatake, and Sh*take Mushrooms, plus some other military grade top secret vegan voodoo magic. The end product is our Vegan Dish of the year!
A special shout to our friends over at Samar International Food Market. You should check these folks out. A lot if the ingredients we use in our menus are sourced from this little gem. We appreciate y’all and thank you for doing what you do…

This Darryl Award is for dopest fish dish of 2022..
This award goes to our Black Cod with Choy Sum, Yuzu Macerated Ikura. Finished with a soy-ginger broth…
This dish may have been in the running for dish of the year. But the inclusion of the minced chive was a result of the chef not being able to self edit, and adding a component that didn’t belong. A bit of a no-no. Still, this dish was a banger, something we were psyched to serve, and a dish we will certainly do again..

Time for our version of The Dundies. Our best of 2022 that we call The Darryls.
This Darryl award is for best dish at a curated dinner. The dish is cioppino. What made this dish so dope was the rich broth that we achieved by burning the shells of the crab, shrimp, then adding those to very deep caramelized vegetables. This gave us a wonderful foundation for the broth.
But the biggest flex here was the crab fat crostini(seen sticking out of the bowl) we scraped the inner crab fat form the “heads” of the Dungeness Crabs, then folded that into a bit of butter. What we got was a briny butter that was the perfect complement to the char of the bread, and ultimately the dish as a whole.
Thank you for the wonderful wine that inspired us to create this dish, and the menu for our event..
This was an instant classic. Sort of like Electric Avenue, or Pass The Dutchie. The Elk Chop(seen here) went HAM on its only featured night. So we thought why not run it again. The set will be a bit different. No obligatory herb salad because we had no better ideas. Probably something pickled(classic SSB)
Anyhoo..The Elk Chop is back this weekend.
BTW we are serving the NYE menu Friday y Saturday. So if you can’t get a reservation NYE, or you want to come both nights, or maybe just Friday. We got you!!
NYE teaser number 2.. SSB Calamari. This one has been on break for a bit. Definitely the most asked “Why isn’t this on the menu” dish that is showing up this weekend.
Pro tip… We are also offering these Greatest Hits dishes on Friday too. So maybe you want to come Friday, or Friday and Saturday..I don’t know your life!!😂😂😂
