Well, it’s official! The Camp Jack Hazard is back up and running with its administration team!! Everyone is fast at work prepping for this summer. Welcome Kayla Hoyopatubbi, our new Camp Registrar!! Lupe De La Rosa, our new Bookkeeper!! And Rob, CJH Site Director!! We are busy catching up and getting ready for this amazing, session packed summer! (Yes, it took 2.5 people to replace Amanda Hoyopatubbi!!!

** UPDATE **
As you may have noticed, we have been relatively quiet here. This lull in our usual updates is due to the great weight of sadness we have been feeling. Our very great friend Amanda Hoyopatubbi, Camp Registrar and amazing Bookkeeper has moved on professionally to bigger, better ambitions. I have been living in denial for the last two weeks that she was coming back to the office... but alas that is not the case. She has dedicated the last 7 years to help make Camp Jack Hazard and the Jack and Buena Foundation happen for all of us. She has been my greatest support and a trusted friend. I am very happy and proud of all of her growth personally and professionally in her time with us. This organization will struggle to find someone who can fill this position as well as Amanda has done. She has ensured that every kid that wants to be at camp, has made it to camp. She has squelched and calmed every nervous parent and made the signing up/ paperwork process as easy as possible. She will be missed.

So please parents, be patient with me and Rob Waterman (Site Director) as we stumble through trying to do this daunting task. We will be posting a job posting soon for a permanent replacement. We will be searching for a Camp Registrar and Bookkeeper.

Thank you Amanda for all of your service and dedication and making me look presentable to the public.

Wow!

11/03/2022

One of the bests gifts we can give to youth is the gift of camp. Did you know that each year, we spend nearly $26k - $45k in campership funds to make sure any kid that wants to go to camp, does! That’s pretty amazing! The best part for us at the JBF is the amazing cards, notes, and drawings we get from the moms and dads and campers that received that support. Below is a picture of just one of our groups of such correspondence. Also below is the transcript of one recent thank-you note we received. It really nails the entire spirit of Camp Jack Hazard:

"Dear Camp Jack Hazard,

Every year I’ve gone to Camp I’ve written a letter. Most of the letters have said mostly the same thing-
how much I love Camp, how much I can’t wait to go back etc, but I mean it with all my heart.

Camp is a truly wonderful place. During closing campfire of session 4, a little boy said “Everyone loves you” there, and I think that’s one of the most accurate things I’ve heard. It’s a very accepting and inclusive place. It’s somewhere I can ALWAYS be myself without being judged.

I’d like to thank Don for helping me decide what to do with my rag. Also Zoey, for talking through my feelings with me. And last but not least Melanie for dealing with my homesickness and crazy cabin.

Camp is a special place, and you guys make it that much better.
2022 was such a hectic year, and I know I’m forgetting something, but thank you for all the wonderful experiences. I can’t wait to be back as a camper then as an LIT, then (hopefully) as a counselor. I can’t wait to make new friends and wake up to bells again.

See you next year!

P.s Thank you for giving me a scholarship this year!

P.P.s I apologize for how late this letter is."

So remember that when you donate to help send a child to camp, this is the change you are giving to that child’s life!!!
