Up first in our program spotlights for Arts in Education Week are our school based programs!

Student Matinee Series: The Gallo Center’s inaugural education program, our student matinee series features daytime performances at the Center curated specifically for our region’s students. All performances align with and support state curriculum standards in all core subject areas, including the arts, and provide unique opportunities for students to experience regional, national and international performing groups in a theater full of their peers. The 24/25 Student Matinee Series is presented by Alfred Matthews.

GCA on Tour: This program brings the wonder of live theatre directly to the students on their school campus! Featuring a new title each season and a cast and production team highlighting our local creative community, we believe performance can happen anywhere – even a school cafeteria. Generous funding by US Bank and supported in part by Kaiser Permanente.

Join us as we venture back to the days of the dinosaurs and learn the value of being present in the here and now. This one-week musical theater camp highlights singing, dancing, time travel, acting, and costume/set construction and will culminate in a Friday evening performance of “It's Our Time” — an all new show written especially for Creation Cretacean Station.

Students from Patrick Norris’ theatre class at Pitman High School participated in a Talkback Session with the cast of 12 Angry Jurors after a Student Matinee.

Patrick is also the director of the Gallo Center Repertory Company production, which opens tomorrow at the Gallo Center for the Arts. Students from local high schools were treated to preview shows today before opening day.

In this one-man tour-de-force based on Picasso’s writings, writer/performer Herbert Sigüenza (Culture Clash) takes on the role of the legendary artist, inviting the listener into Picasso’s private studio for an intimate and revealing weekend as he prepares to deliver six new works to a buyer on Monday morning. L.A. Theatre!Works’ production will feature large scale video projections of the art being created in the piece as well as historic images and text, serving to completely immerse audiences in a full audio-visual experience of Picasso’s life and art.
