Building a stronger community, one cup of coffee at a time! In honor of National Do Something Good For Your Neighbor Day, consider getting to know the amazing people who live around you. True Coffee Roasters is always a great place to connect!

We’ve teamed up with the River Food Pantry and will be running a food drive through the 19th of May. All you have to do is drop off your non-perishable items to the True Coffee Roasters Cafe & food will be distributed to Monona families in need!

Most Needed Items:

In April, Scott & Shanna had the amazing opportunity of attending the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Expo in Chicago. To say the experience was transformative would be an understatement. The SCA Expo was informative, enlightening, and reminded them what a beautiful and expansive world the specialty coffee industry truly is.

During the Expo, they were able to attend lectures by leading industry professionals to help them continue to learn and grow in the coffee industry. One lecture they attended expanded on new procedures and changes coming to the SCA’s coffee cupping standards.

They also attended several cupping events where they met with importers and tasted outstanding coffees from around the world. Inside of the exhibit hall was a section called ‘Roaster Village’. This section had importers and roasters representing their brand, skills, and coffee. They met with some of our current importers and with potential future importers to chat about coffee and request samples. It was a unique, inspiring experience to see roasters and professionals showcase their best coffees.

The SCA Expo also held demonstrations for the future of innovations of coffee. It was exciting to see what the future of coffee, brewing, extraction, and processing methods holds.

During expo, they completed an interview survey about True Coffee’s participation in the Black Producers program with BD imports. Equity, ethicality, transparency, and sustainability in specialty coffee are topics we have a passion for. They enjoyed being able to have an honest and open conversation about the impact programs, roasters, and consumers can have on underrepresented farmers.

Overall, the SCA Expo was an experience that they both cherished and enjoyed. We are happy to play a part in the wonderful community that specialty coffee has and continues to cultivate.

This May at True Coffee Roasters we're excited to bring back a customer favorite, our house made Violet Lemonade! We use the oleo saccharum method to extract the essential oils out of the lemon peel. Using the essential oils, we then make a lemon syrup, juice our lemons and mix it all together over ice.

Try it on its own or with our violet syrup!
