Apple is the Lakeside Stables horse of the week. This mini may be small, but she is full of personality! Apple loves her best friend Hutch and has been quite the good sport about participating in pony painting for birthday parties! Her cute face matches her adorable name and I think it’s fair to say she is a fan of apples. She is a loyal friend and loves to stand up for her friends no matter the other horse’s size, in Apple’s mind she is as big and tough as a Friesian! Apple is Stormy’s mom (Stormy lives at our sister barn Lenux Stables!) Make sure to say hello to this cutie and her best friend Hutch the next time you are at Lakeside!

Famke is the Lakeside Stables Horse of the Week! Her owner Gail wanted to share a bunch of fun facts with you all so I will let Gail take it away! Famke can bow and shake “paws” she loves stud muffins and bananas. Famke was shown “in-hand” which is like a dog show for Friesian horses to show off her amazing composition! She was a World Champion 2 times and had 4 babies! Gail also wanted to highlight that she takes her momma (Gail) to the store every Monday afternoon at 2:30 and stops at all the red lights . This amazing Friesian is loved so much by her owner and is Gail’s pride and joy! Make sure to stop by “Famke’s Fort” the next time you are at Lakeside!

This will be held during the Friday night session with Academy following on Saturday morning. We would like to recognize and celebrate you! Aspen is the Lakeside Stables Horse of the Week! Also known by her registered name “Fearless and True,” Aspen is on the second chapter of her career after making her mark in the Performance ring as a Western Pleasure Horse in Georgia (swipe for a flash back!). She was born a chestnut foal, a unique characteristics of some grays, and as she grew older, she turned white over time. Her second chapter and forever home is with us here at Lakeside, showing off at Academy Shows and getting spoiled by all who love her at the barn, especially her Owner Colleen! She loves anything small especially her best pals - Apple and Hutch. Her favorite thing in the world (after treats) is to have her face brushed by her mom! In the arena, she is spirited and challenges riders to use their horsemanship skills to achieve a solid equine partnership, she loves to show off in the Show Ring, and we have a sneaking suspicion her favorite color is blue🏅! She has achieved much success in her lifetime as a high point winner in her western pleasure work, many blue ribbons and even a National Championship in Saddle Seat Academy here at Lakeside! Simply put by Colleen -“it’s Aspen’s world and we are all just living in it!“ She is loved, valued and a cherished member of the Sims & Wolf family.

Hutch is the Lakeside Stables Horse of the Week! Our sweet boy Hutch has had a long and fulfilling life as the resident mini (miniature horse) alongside his best friend Apple. This duo is sure to put a smile on your face whenever you see them out in the outdoor ring with Aspen on their morning adventure. This is their favorite part of any day, getting to enjoy their hay alongside their fellow grey friend, who is only a litttlllleee bit taller than the both of them. Hutch is a fiercely protective friend and his favorite place is by Apple’s side. He is an absolute champ when it comes to birthday parties and is our go-to pony for dress-up and painting. He loves a rainbow mane just as much as Casper and is such a good sport! Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the amazing Hutch enjoying some sunshine in the outdoor arena the next time you are at Lakeside!

Elvis is the Lakeside Stables Horse of the Week! Elvis, or as known by his registered name, “Bonus Time” is our sweet freckled gelding who is best known at Lakeside for his antics with his best friend Bandit. Elvis has a unique marking on his face that makes him look freckled and his pointy and expressive ears complete his captivating look. He is a gentle soul with a goofy sense of humor which is why him and Bandit get along splendidly. These two boys love nothing more than being outside together in the outside ring, rolling in the mud, and playing with each others halters to lovingly annoy each other. Elvis is a push ride and takes a lot of energy to get moving, but once he does, he is sure to capture all eyes in the show ring. He has quite the fan club at Lakeside and is loved deeply by many, see some of the members below :). Make sure to say hello to this sweet boy the next time you are at the barn!!

The ASHBA Academy Awards program encourages and recognizes youth and adults participating in academy classes at horse shows throughout the country. Academy classes create an opportunity for beginning saddle seat riders to develop and fine-tune their horsemanship skills, sportsmanship, and appreciation for the American Saddlebred.

Teddy is the Lakeside Stables horse of the week! Teddy has the sweetest soul and his personality lives up to his name, he is a Teddy Bear at heart. Teddy lives outside with his best friends Thor, Feather, and Blitzen and loves coming in for lessons to teach 1st timers what it feels like to ride a horse! Teddy has taught quite a few first lessons from little kids all the way to adults and his calm demeanor puts his riders at ease. This strong softy is supportive and allows the riders to take each lesson at their own pace, he is a gentle soul and wins over everyone who is lucky enough to ride him. Make sure to say hello to Teddy the next time you are at Lakeside, you may even catch him taking an afternoon nap!

Come join us for Horsemanship 101 lessons at Lakeside! Our 101 lessons are $50/lesson and 30 minutes in duration. One rider per instructor for beginners of all ages (6 & up!). Feather is the Lakeside Stables Horse of the Week!!! Feather is our amazing young mare who loves to play in the mud and see how dirty she can get. She loves cantering in her lessons and takes a skilled rider to canter her with control and poise. Her favorite part of the day after she wraps up lessons is to go back outside and make sure she gets a very thorough roll on each side so no one ever things she’s too fancy. This spunky young mare has quite the fan club at Lakeside and has stolen our hearts with her goofy personality and adorable ever-present baby mohawk fringe. Rain or shine, Feather is sure to make you smile! She loves spending time outside with her boys: Teddy, Thor, and Blitzen. While she may be smaller than Teddy and Thor, she has these sweet boys wrapped around her finger, they care for and love her like she is their very own. Make sure to say hello to Feather and her besties out in the big field the next time you are at Lakeside!
