Big Red PLAY OF THE DAY
Today, Josh realized that his keys were missing. He asked if I (Tom) had seen them and I had not. Josh mentioned that an announcement had been made at the football game at Freedom last night that a set of keys had been found.
We looked for them and upon coming up empty, we reached out to FHS public announcer Mike Adams about the keys and he verified that the keys turned in matched the description. Mike told us the keys were in the possession of the Sheriff's Office.
Despite the odds, we called the Sheriff's Office and the dispatcher had Deputy White contact us. Upon getting our info, she contacted Deputy Cox, FHS Resource Officer and verified that he did indeed have them
She said that Josh could pick them up on Tuesday at school and asked if he was a student at FHS.
Upon finding out that Josh was not a student at Freedom, but was at App and the keys contained his dorm key, she arranged to pick up the keys from Deputy Cox and had them delivered to our house.
Amazing public service from the BCSO which far exceeded our expectations. We are so very thankful for everyone that went above and beyond to help us today.
Thank you Mike Adams, Deputy Cox and Deputy White for your outstanding public service. I would like to give each of you a free Big Red T-Shirt for going out of your way in our time of need. If you will message us, we will get a shirt to you as a small gesture of our appreciation.
There is also someone else we would like to thank. The person who found the keys and turned them in. We don't know who you are, but we appreciate your thoughtfulness and consideration. We have a free T-shirt for you as well. Message us and describe the keys so we know it's you and we will hook you up!
Our sincere thanks to all of you. You all are our Big Red MVP's today!
Much respect and appreciation.

Good evening, Sports Fans! This evening, the Lady Patriots (2-7) took to the road again to visit their crosstown rival, Patton (8-2). The Panthers outmatched Freedom with too many offensive threats, stingy defense, and consistent play to win in straight sets: 25-16, 25-17, 28-26.
The Patriots played well in the first set and kept the score close until they got caught in a bad rotation at 16-14 and mustered only two more points that came late in the frame. The Panthers took advantage and ran the table in the first. After winning the opening frame, Patton rolled to dominate the second. The third, however, was as exciting as they come. Each team kept pressure on the other. Freedom started hot but faded. Patton grabbed the lead but couldn't put the game out of reach. A good service run by Freshman Madelyn LeMasters kept the Lady Patriots close. Back-and-forth rallies stretched the frame beyond its 25-point limit, but Patton prevailed 28-26. A great volleyball set in West Burke!
Kaitlyn Hagmann (Jr) led Freedom's attack with nine kills and two aces. Senior Ava Whitaker added four kills along with two blocks. Freshman Mia Furches (affectionately known as "Big Furch") hammered home two kills and added four blocks, showcasing her improvement and strength in the middle. Emma Buchanan (Jr) recorded one ace on the evening. Katie Settle and LeMasters had one kill each, and the latter added an ace during her service run in the third.
In JV action, Patton swept the Patriots in two, both sets 25-17.
Next, the Lady Patriots have its second home contest of the season against visiting Bunker Hill on Wednesday. Until then, dear reader, this is the Rev. Dr. John Hagmann reporting, and that's news to me.
