Children learn social-emotional skills by interacting with adults who are predictable and responsive. When adults Hear their child’s cues, let their child know they Understand what the child is communicating, and Give the child a clear response they can understand, the child learns to interact calmly and predictably. Roadmap for Assessing Meaningful Participation (RAMP) certification training starts September 11, 2024.
The RAMP course provides intensive instruction on using the RAMP as a participation-based assessment. The RAMP process includes guidance for collecting information about family priorities, everyday activities and routines, and child interests; an observation of the child and family engaged in a real-life activity related to a family priority; and guidance for developing participation-based IFSP outcomes. The RAMP certification training has an asynchronous component followed by six synchronous meetings.

The Newborn Interests, Activity and Assessment Plan (NIAAP) is a step-by-step guide for providers who support caregivers with infants up to 6 months of age. This tool helps providers support caregivers to identify their infant’s cues related to interests and needs during daily activities. This tool also will help caregivers identify how different responses affect infants in their daily activities. The Newborn Observe & Respond Strategies booklet complements the NIAAP manual by describing and giving examples of the responsive strategies . It serves as a great reference for caregivers, allowing families to track the responsive strategies they use to invite, engage, and teach their child.
