Happy New Year!
If you enjoy numerology, 2024 is an eight-year (2+0+2+4=8). It symbolizes achievement and balance. It’s a time for realizing ambitions, especially in careers and finances, while balancing material and spiritual growth. Embrace opportunities, work hard, and reap the rewards of your efforts in this powerful and prosperous year! 💕
One advantage of this trend: if you teach your children a strong work ethic, they will quickly emerge as leaders and rise to the top. 👑
It’s not just a stereotype: Gen Z really does ‘have a work ethic problem’ In just two years, there's been a significant shift in the way that members of Gen Z think about work, new data show.
Have a happy Week of Gratitude.
Artificial intelligence. What are your thoughts? We’ve been training our own AI model to think like us. Seeing our visions come alive (this picture is of jackets we are creating for future students) is amazing! There are nearly 100 million active AI users today. We will look back at this time in history and it will be similar to when the internet came out and Google. Don’t dismiss it. We will be hosting a free workshop on AI Ethics later this month. Let us know what questions you have!
I’ve been an approved educator for HBP since I started teaching at the University of Arizona. So excited to offer these courses as a part of our leadership development programs and certifications. -Kerissa
Seton Hall University's "Future of Leadership Survey: 2023" reveals insights into the changing landscape of young leaders. The study shows a workforce prioritizing ethical behavior, continuous learning, and hybrid work environments, and valuing openness, agreeableness, and adaptability in leadership. It also highlights the need for employers to play a pivotal role in leadership development, with structured programs and internships. The study raises concerns about talent retention due to salary dissatisfaction, urging employers to rethink compensation strategies. Overall, the survey provides a valuable guide to shaping future leadership in a rapidly changing world.
The future belongs to the heart centered leader.
Does your organization have a therapy dog? Say hello to Sir. Thomas Riley-The First who was rescued during the pandemic. He has been with BRAVE since the beginning and makes everything better. He's not only great for mental health- he's also the best networker. He loves to approach people, and they love it, too.
Want to make the case for getting one in the workplace? Here are a couple of the latest findings:
•A study mentioned by Inverse suggests that spending just ten minutes with a therapy dog can have profound health benefits, particularly in alleviating pain and anxiety.
•Another controlled study cited by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) found that therapy dogs reduce stress and lessen anxiety among university students, indicating the potential for similar effects in workplace settings.

Have you ever met someone with a natural knack for leadership? They always seem to make the right decisions and have an uncanny ability to guide others. What sets these individuals apart? The answer could lie in their use of intuition in leadership.
Intuition is often thought of as a gut feeling or a sixth sense. It's that instinctual knowing that can't always be explained by logic or rational thinking. While it may seem strange to incorporate into the serious world of leadership, intuition can be a powerful tool for guiding and inspiring others.
So how can emerging leaders tap into their intuition and use it to their advantage? Here are a few tips to get started:
1. Trust your instincts: As an emerging leader, you must develop confidence in your intuition. Pay attention to subtle feelings or hunches that arise during decision-making. Trusting your instincts can give you the edge to make more informed and effective choices.
2. Practice mindfulness: Intuition is often clouded by the noise and distractions of everyday life. To cultivate your intuition, it's important to practice mindfulness. This involves slowing down, being present in the moment, and tuning in to your thoughts and feelings. By quieting the mind and listening to your inner voice, you can better access your intuition when it matters most.
3. Reflect on past experiences: Take the time to reflect on your past experiences as a leader. What decisions felt right? Which ones didn't? By analyzing these situations and looking for patterns, you can understand how your intuition plays a role in your decision-making process. This reflection can help you better understand your leadership style and enable you to trust your intuition even more.
4. Seek feedback: As a leader, seeking input from others is important. While intuition is a powerful tool, it's not infallible. Sometimes, our own biases and blind spots can cloud our judgment. By seeking feedback from trusted colleagues or mentors, you can gain valuable insights that can help you refine your decision-making abilities and strengthen your intuition.
5. Embrace failure: Not every decision made on intuition will be a home run. In fact, some may lead to failure. But instead of shying away from failure, embrace it as an opportunity for growth. Reflect on what went wrong and how your intuition guided you. Learn from these experiences and use them to refine your intuition moving forward.
Incorporating intuition into your leadership style may take time to learn. It takes time, practice, and a willingness to trust yourself. But by developing your intuition, you can become a more effective and inspiring leader.
Do you practice mindfulness?
Mindfulness is being fully present and aware of one's thoughts, feelings, and surroundings without judgment. Many studies have investigated how mindfulness can influence various cognitive processes, including decision-making, which is why it is a critical tool for leaders.
Here are a few benefits of mindfulness for leaders:
1. Improved Focus and Clarity: Mindfulness practices have been shown to enhance attention and concentration. This heightened focus can lead to better decision-making as individuals can weigh options more effectively and consider the potential consequences of their choices.
2. Reduced Cognitive Biases: Cognitive biases are inherent tendencies that can affect decision-making in irrational ways. Mindfulness has been found to reduce certain cognitive biases, such as confirmation bias, which involves favoring information that confirms preexisting beliefs. Individuals can make more rational and unbiased decisions by being more aware of these biases.
3. Emotion Regulation: Mindfulness practices promote emotional regulation, helping individuals manage stress and negative emotions. When making decisions under stressful circumstances, the ability to regulate emotions can lead to more thoughtful and less impulsive choices.
4. Increased Self-Awareness: Mindfulness cultivates self-awareness, allowing individuals to recognize their values, preferences, and underlying motivations. This self-awareness can lead to decisions that align more closely with personal and organizational goals.
5. Enhanced Creativity: Research suggests mindfulness can stimulate creativity by promoting divergent thinking and breaking cognitive patterns. This can lead to more innovative and imaginative decision-making.
6. Better Decision-Making Under Uncertainty: Mindfulness practices have improved decision-making in uncertain situations. Mindful individuals may be better equipped to handle ambiguity and adapt their decisions when new information arises.
7. Ethical Decision-Making: Mindfulness has been linked to increased ethical decision-making. Being mindful can lead individuals to consider the ethical implications of their choices, promoting responsible and principled decision-making.
Most importantly, mindful leaders create focused, harmonious workspaces.
The best kind of leaders.
