Congratulations to Junior Member Ethan Laporte for your graduation from high school. Ethan wished to share his accomplishment with his mentor and career staff member Nick Walker. Congratulations Ethan!
If you haven’t done so already today, please pause and take a moment to remember those that have made the Ultimate Sacrifice for our country. Thankfully, a majority of us are far removed from a place and time that doesn’t offer the freedom, prosperity, and opportunity we enjoy today. Unfortunately, this makes it easy for us to take these things for granted. To those that have fallen, we are forever grateful. 🫡🇺🇸
As another EMS week comes to an end, we’d like to acknowledge the men and women who have chosen to make a living, or devote their free time, to care for the sick and injured wherever and whenever they are needed. Sometimes you’re called to do the things movie and TV shows depict EMS being about. Sometimes our only treatment is reassurance or a simple lift assist. Sometime it’s a simple transfer to a different hospital, other times a not-so-simple transfer to another hospital. Sometimes, you’re called to do the things nobody talks about, and things we wish we could forget about.
Even when it may not seem or feel like it, somebody somewhere appreciates every single second you spend doing what you’ve trained to do. Whether it’s a patient you’ve comforted or even saved, a relieved parent, grieving window, or grateful boss. What. You. Do. Matters. You are seen, you are heard, you are valued.
A special thank you to the friends and family members who share their loved ones with us and the community, especially as we enter this holiday weekend. There is no way you will ever be repaid for the minutes and moments you weren’t able to share with them because the pager went off, or there was nobody else to fill that shift. The sacrifice is as much yours as it is theirs.
Our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters of the Altona Fire Department and Trevor’s family.
It is with deep regret and sorrow that the Altona Volunteer Fire Department announces the passing of Firefighter Trevor Blondo after a courageous battle with cancer.
Trevor was a long-term member of the Altona Volunteer Fire Department. During his time here, he has held several roles to include but not limited to Firefighter, EMT-Basic, By-law Committee Member, Membership Committee Member, Mentor for our Junior Firefighter Program and was our departments President until his untimely passing.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Trevor's family and friends as we all mourn his passing.
Such a profound loss to our local EMS community! The careers and lives of nearly every EMT who joined up prior to Bob’s retirement over 10 years ago were shaped by his knowledge, wisdom, demeanor, and friendship. He’s been remembered fondly since his last shift on 92, and will continue to be for many, many years to come. Thank you Bob, and rest in peace.

This evening volunteers from Morrisonville EMS provided coverage for the Relay For Life at the Clinton County Fairgrounds. This year was a little more special, as we were able to celebrate two of our members, Tony Searing, EMT-B and Mila Giddings, Jr. Member. Both are Survivors and were honored this evening.

In an ongoing industry that requires constant education and learning, we would like to take a moment to recognize a few individuals who have recently furthered their education and increased their level of care. The Advanced EMT class is a class geared for Basic level EMt's, which is a 7 month class mixed with a combination of clinical, in hospital time, ambulance ride time, as well as classroom time. The Paramedic Bridge program is a program geared for EMT-Critical Care providers that have been practicing for 3+ years at that level. This consists of a 15 month self-study program, periodic testing, and practical testing. The following individuals have recently completed and passed all NYS requirements for the Advanced EMT level:
Dawn Bordeau
Elizabeth Fewster
Christiana Passino
Briana Rosney
The following have recently completed the NYS Paramedic Bridge program:
Mike Abrunzo
Morgan Arruda
John Cross
Sarah McLean
Tori Russell
We also have two individuals who recently completed a full Paramedic curriculum, which is an approximate 20 month program consisting of hundreds of hours of clinical time, ambulance ride time, as well as classroom time. Those individuals are:
Kody Thomson
Kayla Dandurand
We are proud to have you all as providers in our organization!
Please take note of the following upcoming education opportunities!
To all EMS Professionals; your service and dedication is seen an appreciated not just this week, but every single day of the year. Always remember this, and always remember it is a privilege to play the roll you’ve chosen to play in the realms of both Public Safety and Healthcare. Not everyone can or should work or volunteer in this manner; we are indeed the special few “Where the Emergency Care Begins!”
To our Dispatcher, Law Enforcement, Firefighter, Highway/Public Works, Hospital, Home Health, Nursing Home, Mental Health, Long Term Care Partners, and to those we may have forgotten; we appreciate your support and the respective roles you play that help us complete our mission.
To our Elected Officials, we appreciate the support and opportunities to serve the communities we serve locally, and look forward to increased recognition and cooperation at a State and Federal Level to increase recognition of the field, continued growth and progress of our ability to provide excellent patient care, and also an increased means and resources for those that choose to make their livelihoods as EMS workers and to make it possible for those that volunteer their time and services to continue to do so.
To the educators and trainers; thank you for going the extra mile to teach us how we do what we do, ensure our proficiency, and keep us up to date on the latest developments in terms of patient care.
Finally, to the public; your support is paramount to what we do. You are often the true first responders; without you performing a few key actions prior to the ambulance arriving, all of our interventions and actions would be futile. Thank you!
Welcome to the first responder family! Congrats and best wishes on your state exam!
Peru HS students shine in medical first responders course PERU | Eight juniors and seniors spent months learning the basics of lifesaving during real emergency situations.
We couldn’t do our jobs without them! Thanks for always having our backs.
Clinton County 911 Dispatchers......an awesome group of individuals who spend their workday handling sometimes hundreds of phone calls, and now text messages, from residents and visitors in our County, who are often having the worst day of their lives. Be it handling a call for someone reporting a house on fire with people trapped inside, a motor vehicle accident, a fender bender to crushing rollover, a heart attack, a child birth, a broken limb to a water rescue, a domestic dispute, a drunk driver to a bank robbery or home invasion, everything else in between and some calls even beyond your imagination, these individuals professionally and expertly answer the call and dispatch Police, Fire, EMS and other services to those in need.
This week is designated nationwide as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and is dedicated to bringing recognition to these hardworking often heard, but never seen, 1st First Responders.
Please help Clinton County congratulate and thank our Dispatchers for the work they do 24x7x365 by commenting and sharing this post.

Yesterday our Volunteers held their annual School Bus Evacuation Drill lead by Assistant Chief Johnson and Lt. Hendrie. Students from Saranac High School and Peru High School helped out as "victims". We also had a few Basic EMT students from CCC. This yearly training refreshes our skills with treating children, a larger than average amount of patients, scene safety, and the dynamics of removing victims of bus crashes in small areas. The students gave us a run for our money with their superb acting! Thank you to all involved!
