Took a moment while I was hand-weeding to say hello to these beauties ππ
We'll be opening soon - stay tuned!
Oh my goodness! Look at these!!
Tell your family, tell your friends - We are getting pretty close to opening! π
Be on the lookout for the announcement and join our e-mail list on our website (www.hobbithillfarm.com) so you don't miss it!!
Just yesterday there was only a ripe blueberry here and there. Suddenly this morning there are several on every bush that are getting close. Somehow, after years and years, I am still surprised every season ππ.
So excited to see you soon!!
*This* is why we prune! 5 new shoots where I cut off one massive, old cane!
It is *hard* to make those cuts. It is hard to see a huge branch fall to the ground. It is hard to sacrifice some blueberries now in order to prioritize future production and long-term plant health.
But - our work is paying off! Bit by bit and year by year we are slowly rejuvenating our mature plants (planted 35-40 years ago by my Daddy!) *and* our baby plants that were planted in the last two years are thriving! Some of the baby plants are hip high already and they are putting up new shoots every year! We'll get a little fruit from some of them this year and then more and more fruit each year for many years to come!
Thanks so much for coming along on this journey! For choosing to spend time at the farm, for cheering us on, for buying our blueberries and everything else we have available while our baby plants are busy building strong root structures. It means more than you know. Truly β€οΈ See you soon!! Blueberries on the way!!
Yesterday evening at the farm π Photo from my bro-in-law
Family. I'm so lucky and supported in so many ways β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Also, as you can see - we have picnic tables now! Woo hoo!
We'll have blueberries, blueberry mint lemonade, and blueberry buckle - bring your breakfast, lunch, or dinner and stay awhile! Opening in a couple weeks!
Ate my first berries of the season last night from one old plant that fruits 2-3 weeks before the others! Blueberry season is on the way!
The rain over the weekend mostly missed us so we are still hoping for rain over hereπ€
Can't wait to see you soon!
