Dear subregistrars,

Recently, we have had several issues surrounding the voiding of BRTPs after they have already been released. We need to ask you to make every effort to minimize use of the Void function in the BRTP Log after it has been released. When the funeral home tries to release the death certificate, the system recognizes that the old BRTP has been voided and prevents registration of the record until a new BRTP number is linked with the record. As you can imagine this adversely affects the registration of records in a timely manner.
If a correction is needed to any of the following fields: date of death, time of death, place of death, funeral home and/or completely different decedent’s name; please contact the Field Consultants at 803-898-3409 or email the team at [email protected].

Additionally, when selecting the Funeral Home or Medical Certifier to be placed on the BRTP, please make sure to use the binoculars to search for the funeral home's name. This allows the system to email the BRTP directly to the Funeral Home. If Other is used, the BRTP will not be forwarded to the recipient’s email box and you will need to either manually email a copy of the BRTP, fax it, or print and give it to the funeral home.

These efforts will make registration of records in this new system run much more smoothly. Thank you for all your efforts and patience shown as we transitioned to the electronic BRTP system.
