Have you ever wondered where the sound of your voice comes from?
Your vocal folds, often called vocal cords, are muscular bands that produce the sound of your voice. The folds were thought to function like the strings of a piano or violin, vibrating when plucked; however, when you speak, the vocal folds close and vibrate as your airstream flows across them.
If you have hoarseness or other vocal fold dysfunction, our ENT doctors can help diagnose and treat these conditions to get you singing again. Call (843) 766-7103 for an appointment.
It's true! Even if you don't have pet dander allergies, pets that spend time outdoors can bring pollen into you! As they run through grasses, smell under trees, or walk through the flowers, dogs or cats can pick up pollens on their fur and bring them back to you.
To limit the indoor spread of pollen, bathe pets often and keep them off your bed and upholstered furniture.

I never knew a woman physician other than when I went to medical school, so there was no background for my choice of going."
In addition to becoming the chair of the Department of Surgery at the University Medical School, University of Wisconsin, Madison, and the only woman in the department, Dr. Bennett served as the medical director of the Bureau for Handicapped Children, took on leadership roles in the Wisconsin Otolaryngology Society, and was the first woman elected to the Triological Society.
