Happy New Year! Take some time to pray for the year ahead. What goals do you have that you can only accomplish in partnership with God? What do you seek that you believe God can provide? How might your search be different than you imagine and how might it transform your life this year? Who will be your guide? Who will help you find and fulfill God's purposes for your life? What will be your compass to keep you on the path that God designed for you to follow?

We know having a higher IQ and EQ can help a person succeed in life but here’s another factor: EC (Economic Connectedness).
Want to help your child succeed in life? Help them make friends with people who are more successful. According to the New York Times this is a place where churches shine!
“Churches and other religious organizations may have some lessons to teach other parts of society. Although many churches are socioeconomically homogeneous, those with some diversity tend to foster more cross-class interactions than most other social activities. Churchs have lower levels of what the researchers call socioeconomic “friending bias.”
Happy Independence Day!
As the United States of America appear to get more and more divided, here’s some perspective on how we can respond to this environment of political polarization. God bless you all on your 4th of July! May God’s will be done on earth (in America) as it is in heaven!

We Need a Better Kind of Polarization - Lausanne Movement In 2019, the research firm Ipsos Group published a survey that involved 19,782 participants from 27 countries. One question asked participants if they believed their country’s society was more or less at danger because of political divisions than it was 20 years ago. 41% of participants said their...

"May God help us to love the real, local church that we are part of, because it and we belong to him." - Kelly Kapic
"Unlike CrossFit or garden clubs or any other organization designed to attract similar personality types, the church collects people who often do not naturally fit together. Sociologically, this looks like a massive disadvantage, but theologically it is a beautiful gift.
God gathers us with all of our differences, united only by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, into the fellowship of the Spirit and the Father’s love." - Kelly Kapic (pc - John Arano on Unsplash)
This Sunday, as Americans "spring forward" with the March 13th daylight savings time change, many Christians will go to church a bit bleary-eyed and tired. But the residents of Kyiv will not be able to go to church because of the government mandated curfew. Everyone needs to seek shelter or stay at home because of the threat to their lives.
In response to this crisis, the Ukrainian Catholic Church that it will come to the people. "Our priests will descend to the underground, they will descend to the bomb shelters, and there they will celebrate the Divine Liturgy. The Church is with its people! The Church of Christ brings the Eucharistic Saviour to those who are experiencing critical moments in their life, who need the strength and hope of the resurrection."

Happy Sunday after Christmas!
We worship today because yesterday we received a unique and special gift – God incarnated himself in the form of the babe to become the savior of the world. As the angels proclaimed to the shepherds, “Behold, I bring you glad tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
The fact that God gave us a savior implies two things.
1. God would not waste his son. He gave his only begotten son to this world because we need him in order to be saved. We can’t redeem ourselves from the sins that we have committed. We can’t climb the ladder of good works and get ourselves into heaven. We need intervention. We need grace.
2. God’s grace is not cheap. It doesn’t take much to see that the consequences of sin are severe. Therefore, justice demands that grace be sufficient to cover the penalty and pain that were inflicted upon us by others, and others by us. Yet, in spite of the cost, God paid it by willingly taking the sin of the world upon himself.
The apostle Paul, when writing to the Romans, adds a third truth.
3. In view of God’s mercy, we can’t live like none of this happened.
Paul says it this way: Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
This leads us to three corollary responses to these three truths:
1. Let’s not waste our lives. The Father gave the ultimate gift to free us from slavery to fear and sin. May we never give ourselves over their control. Christ gave his life so he could offer us abundant life. Let’s not settle for anything less!
2. Let’s not cheapen God’s grace by refusing to live in it’s power. Though we have been hurt, betrayed, violated, or shamed by those around us. The penalty of those sins were paid for on the cross. The consequences of those sins are not final. Justice has been satisfied on the cross. So let’s be satisfied too. Rather than hold grudges or seeking retribution, we can be free from the pain of being sinned against and we can extend grace just as God has extended grace to us.
3. God’s mercy is a game-changer. Since it changed your life, offer it as a life changer to those around you. God alone could save us. And he alone can save others. So let’s be bearers of this good gift. Share the hope of salvation, Declare freedom from sin, shame, and life of works to try to earn salvation. This hope is unique. No other theology, ideology, or philosophy of life is based on grace. You have this hope because it was freely given to you. Freely give.

It’s been almost a year since the murder of George Floyd— and our world hasn’t looked the same since. The surge in Asian hate crimes furthers the feeling that we must respond with prayer and action.
