Our team and their families have been loving the snow week! Whether you're inside by the fire or outside building a snowman, we hope you're enjoying the Tennessee winter wonderland. ☃️❄️🌨️

Join us as we explore a few different perspectives of snow...

❄️ Snow often times symbolizes a blank canvas for new beginnings. It prompts reflection and the potential for renewal.

❄️ Each snowflake is unique, yet when they come together, they form a blanket of snow. Snow speaks to the balance of uniqueness and unity.

❄️ There is beauty in simplicity and the quiet moments of life.

❄️ Snow may inspire as a metaphor for adaptation and resilience in the face of challenges.

There are so many different lessons that we can learn from snow! We'll leave you with one of our favorite scriptures (who are we kidding, they're all our favorite) to reflect on.

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” - Isaiah 43:19

We can all help prevent su***de. The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the United States.

988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline. While some areas may be currently able to connect to the Lifeline by dialing 988, this dialing code will be available to everyone across the United States starting on July 16, 2022.

When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing National Su***de Prevention Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.

The current Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis, even after 988 is launched nationally. #988 ***deprevention

How much time does your inner dialogue take up with self-doubt or negative self-talk?

Imagine you had a counter-narrative voice saying positive, uplifting, inspiring talk instead?

Why not try some positive affirmations?

Put simply, positive affirmations are positive phrases or statements used to challenge negative or unhelpful thoughts. And yes, there is genuine theory and a fair amount of neuroscience behind this practice. Say these statements to yourself, out loud, in the mirror, or write them on post-its and put them around your house.

04/21/2022

It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to talk to someone about it. It’s okay to write everything down. But it’s never okay to watch yourself fall through an abyss and continue watching.

You are way stronger than you can see. Maybe your vision is a little hazy now. Trust the process, trust yourself and help yourself by asking for help when everything is all becoming too much.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33

It’s the middle of the work week. Sometimes that brings stress, cluttered thoughts, overwhelming feelings, etc. Today is the perfect opportunity to intentionally take care of your mind! Here are a few ideas.

04/08/2022

Let’s talk about Burnout.

Burnout can happen in any industry, from engineering, to nursing, to administrative assistants, nonprofits, or churches. Below are seven major signs of burnout. 👇

1. Severe exhaustion.
•You can barely get up in the morning. There's no desire to do anything that involves effort.

2. Excessive workload.
• Excessive workload drives stress and prevents the body from physical recovery and the mind from replenishing mental resources. It leads to little sleep, bad diet, no exercise. Physical exhaustion leads to mental and emotional exhaustion.

3. Cynicism.
• There seems to be no point to anything, no sense of accomplishment anymore. What used to fuel pride, service, ambition, challenge, even money seems meaningless.

4. Emotionally draining work
• Burnout was first identified in social workers whose clients and large case loads burned up excess emotional resources. If your work involves intense emotional demands, and there's nothing to replace those resources or help with them, such as a lack of support, the constant stress can cause severe physical fatigue.

5. Absence of positive emotions.
• This is one of the hallmarks of burnout. A brain on chronic life-or-death watch from chronic stress fixates on the perceived emergency, on threats, resentments, problems. Even what you used to enjoy outside work feels pointless.

6. Catastrophic thoughts.
• Burnout leads to dire thinking. It colors everything dark and strips away the will and effort to change the situation. It feeds you false beliefs, and there are no coping resources left to fight them.

7. Lack of support or rewards.
• When you are expected to go beyond the call of duty over and over and your efforts aren't supported or valued, it can lead to a loss of emotional and physical resources. You may be able to work long hours for awhile, or for rewards that make you feel the work and you are worthwhile, but when there's no real recognition for going the extra mile, all that's left is exhaustion and resentment. You wind up detaching yourself from everyone and everything.

Safe from the Storm

Individuals who have experienced life trauma need not only a physical haven of safety, but also an emotional haven for the wounded heart. Run into the arms of Jesus to receive His emotional support and security. Speak these promises over your life each and every day.

Jeremiah 31:3
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.”

Psalm 27:10
“For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in.”
‭‭
1 Peter 5:7
“casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

Psalm 30:2
“O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.”
‭‭
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭
-
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, social and spiritual well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. If you find yourself experiencing hardship, distress, or adversity let this be an encouragement to you. Help IS available. Abundant Life IS available.

The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus has abundant life for you.
