Additionally, if you have a gas burning appliance, fireplace or an attached garage you should have at least 1 carbon monoxide detector on each floor outside of all of the sleeping areas or in each bedroom. 3 out of 5 home fire deaths occur due to no working smoke detectors. For $100, we replaced 6 smoke detectors and a carbon monoxide detector today. Additionally, most brands do not change their plug type so the new ones simply require a quick half turn, pulling the plug out of the old unit, putting it in the new unit, don’t forget to remove the plastic covering the included 9v battery, and give it a half turn back on the mount. A quick 5 minute job can save your family’s lives.

Happy Sunday! This is just a quick maintenance tip. We’ve all been there and forgotten to change your air filters. Mine are actually a month past due and I’ll be replacing them today. Outside of your system having to run harder than usual, another side effect of clogged air filters is causing your unit and lines to ‘sweat’ as internal temperatures fall below the dew point resulting in condensation. We pumped just over 5 gallons of water out of this pan yesterday. A quick easy change to keep you cool and save you money.

Hudson Builders’ President, Jason Repak, is also the Vice President of the Horry-Georgetown Homebuilders Association and was interviewed for this article on why construction is essential to for our community and economy. It didn’t quite make the article, but the Homebuilders Association of SC is joining with the National Association of Homebuilders in asking all members to ‘Stand Aware’ with their subcontractors and employees on Thursday, April 16, by temporarily stopping all work to perform training on job site safety specific to preventing the spread of COVID-19. We will be participating.

Construction work was deemed essential in Horry County but the industry still faces challenges

Even in times of uncertainty we can communicate with our homeowners. I was able to share some exciting live video with a homeowner today as we started clearing their lot in Cypress River Plantation. We were also able to do a video update on the Lake House for their landscape plan. Excited to show you some beautiful pictures there over the next two weeks.

This brick and stucco home will be built on the TPC golf course and is the 3rd of 5 homes we are working on in the prestigious Highwood subdivision. Interesting fact, Highwood is divided into 2 counties. Of the 5 homes we have under construction 2 are located in Georgetown county and 3 are located in Horry county. Having just been submitted for neighborhood approval, this home should break ground in the next 30 days.

This beautiful all brick home is the 2nd of 5 in Highwood and will be ready for drywall next week. With 2 fireplaces, ample bedrooms, & amazing lake front views from the kitchen, master bedroom, living room, and dining rooms, this home is sure to impress!

Update 4:

So excited to announce this home. While the home looks elegant, simple and symmetrical with modern farmhouse finishes, the engineering has been extremely complex. This elevated beach home will be located on Pawleys Island, and thankfully, we cleared the final hurdle for structural drawings this week and should be driving pilings very soon. It’s going to be magnificent working on this job site while listening to the waves crash on the Pawley’s Island shoreline.

This home in Pawleys Island is ready to begin next week with a formed slab. This is the second home we are building in Hagley Estates on the Golf Course. More home updates to come!
