When you play tennis or other racket sports, the tendons in the elbow can develop small tears and become inflamed, causing pain on the outside of the elbow. Painters, plumbers, carpenters, and others who repetitively use their forearms are also at higher risk of getting tennis elbow. Let us know if you'd like us to look at the problem and design a treatment plan.

Sore necks, shoulders and lower back pain can be the result of poor office ergonomics and slouching postures. For those who work at computers for a good part of the day, simple steps like sitting properly, investing in a standing desk or taking breaks often to walk around the office can save a lot of discomfort. If you are having ongoing discomfort, please contact us to set up your initial consultation with Dr. Alex Rogers.
There are many great natural sources of protein, and there are protein supplements that work if they don't contain too much sugar. Protein is a basic healthy lifestyle building block, especially for older adults who want to maintain an active lifestyle. So it's not just for weight lifters. But to determine the best amount and sources of protein for your lifestyle, you should contact Kasey Bordas here at New Life Wellness, our resident nutritionist. Too much protein can be as harmful as too little!
Are you currently taking supplements and wondering if they are right for you? Call us for a consultation with our nutritionist Kasey Bordas for deeper insights into how your body is working with the food and supplements you are feeding it.

Suffering from low back pain? You're not alone. Check out this from the National Institute of Health. Take a step toward feeling better by contacting us for a treatment plan.
Low-back pain is a very common problem in the United States and around the world. About 80 percent of adults have low-back pain at some point in their lives. It’s the most common cause of job-related disability and a leading contributor to missed work days and visits to physicians.
Most episodes of low-back pain last only a short period of time. Health professionals call this acute low-back pain. Acute low-back pain is often defined as pain that lasts for up to 4 weeks. In most cases, acute low-back pain goes away without causing any lasting problems.
Low-back pain that lasts for between 4 and 12 weeks is called subacute.
If low-back pain lasts for 12 weeks or longer, it’s called chronic. Treatment sometimes relieves chronic low-back pain successfully, but in other cases, pain persists despite treatment.
Worth the read!
The American College of Physicians (ACP) recommends in a 2017 evidence-based clinical practice guideline published in the Annals of Internal Medicine that physicians and patients should treat acute or subacute low back pain with non-drug therapies such as superficial heat, massage, acupuncture, or spinal manipulation.
Check this out!
Data from the 2017 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS)* found that U.S. adults’ use of yoga, meditation, and chiropractic increased between 2012 and 2017. And, not only did the use of meditation rise, it more than tripled during this time. Further, the data showed that from 2012 to 2017 the use of yoga and meditation significantly increased among U.S. children (aged 4 to 17 years). The percentage of children using yoga more than doubled and the percentage of children meditating showed an almost tenfold increase.

Three types of common sprains. If you feel you are experiencing any of these, please call our office for a consultation.
Grade I Sprain
A grade I or mild sprain happens when you overstretch or slightly tear ligaments. If you have a mild sprain, usually you have:
Minimal pain and swelling.
Little or no loss of functional ability.
Slight or no bruising.
Little trouble putting weight on the affected joint.
Grade II Sprain
A grade II or moderate sprain happens when you tear a ligament further. When you have this type of sprain you have:
Bruising.
Moderate pain.
Swelling.
Difficulty putting weight on the joint.
Some loss of function.
Grade III Sprain
A grade III sprain is usually severe and happens when you completely tear or rupture a ligament. If you have a grade III sprain you are unable to put your weight on the joint and have severe:
Pain.
Swelling.
Bruising.
Strains can be acute or chronic. An acute strain is associated with a recent trauma or injury; it also can occur after improperly lifting heavy objects or overstressing the muscles. Chronic strains are usually the result of overuse: prolonged, repetitive movement of the muscles and tendons.
A sprain is an injury to a ligament (tissue that connects two or more bones at a joint). When a sprain happens, one or more ligaments is stretched or torn. We specialize in sports injuries. Please contact us for a consultation if you believe you have a sprain injury in your legs, arms or back.
