Apparently facebook feels it is OK if you are sick, injured or dying with no medical care or transportation to the hospital emergency room as our post recruiting EMTs does not meet their community standards. SMH. Post was deleted by Facebook. Then the message below clims there is no violation.

I also saw someone else stating their Facebook post about firefighting jobs met the same fate...

Nanticoke Medic 25 and 25IALS crews assisted with this presentation at Kings College today in a well presented discussion and demonstration as to why others may consider EMS as a good career opportunity. It was an honor to participate. Thank you to all responsible for the invite, coordination and presentation especially these excellent representatives of the Emergency Medical Services System as well as these individuals who took the time to hear and see and consider our profession.

Nanticoke Community Ambulance Paramedics, in conjunction with our Medical Director will begin carrying a newly approved lifesaving medication called Tranexamic Acid known as TXA.

Allowing Paramedics to administer this medication is optional in the State however we felt that our longer transport times to a Trauma Center will benifit and increase survival in severe cases. We also respond to rural areas where we frequently see severe bleeing with traumatuc injuries. But even in the Nanticoke/Newport area, we are still 25 minutes from a Trauma Center.

During EMS Week this past May, Nanticoke Paramedic Dave Corby and EMT Lauren Sunder were honored for their actions in saving a victim in critical condition with multiple gun shots suffering shock from severe blood loss. The victim received TXA upon arrival at the Trauma Center and survived. Now we can give TXA at the scene and enroute to the hospital and that will enhance our care level.

TXA is given given through an IV started by the Paramedic and is administered over 10 minutes. The sooner the better.

We are honored. Thank you Nanticoke City for the procomlation recognizing National EMS Week.

INTERESTED in working in EMS?

Don't sign yourself off on a long employment contract!

Alot of those will keep your pay lower than the area standard and then you may be stuck with 4 or 5 years of what you didn't expect .

At Nanticoke Ambulance. We can assist you with initial training, certification and get you working for a decent rate with a short term agreement such as 1 or 2 years.

Good pay, good benefits, good atmosphere and a growing company with true 911 only response. We are always looking for some great people. Give us a look!.

A little background and why and how we respond...

We are an exclusive 911 response service. Meaning we do not have any pre-scheduled, private contracts for ambulance transportation outside of 911 emergency calls.

In Pennsylvania, the driver of an ambulance must have State Certification as an Emergency Medical Services Vehicle Operatior (EMSVO). The primary training program to achieve this is EVOC. A 16 hour classroom and clinical/driving test setting. In most cases, the EMT, AEMT and Paramedic of the crew hold this certification and do the driving.

Pa Title 75, the Motor Vehicle Code and PA Statewide EMS protocols set our policy in response, exemptions and authorizations for Red lights and sirens use.

When necessary, we may proceed through stop signs and Red traffic signals and we may turn and disregard direction of movement like a one way. We. CANNOT exceed the speed limit. There is no specific exemption on weight limits on roads in the code. So we must obey the limits.

Here is our information pertaining to the Nanticoke/West Nanticoke Bridge weight reduction to a 5 Ton limit.

NCAA operates 3 ambulances which are modular type however they are light duty for E350 chassis. The Max weight for all personnel and equipment is 11,500 lbs. 10,000lbs is 5 Tons. Our actual weight, recently weighed, is 10,460 with an average crew of 2 and all ALS equipment on-board.
We service all of Plymouth twp as well as secondary coverage to Hunlock, Union, Huntington, Salem Twp and Shickshinny. At times utilization of the South Cross Valley Bridge and Route 11 into West Nanticoke and points from there will cause an average of 7 minutes additional response time (Base to the West Nanticoke side of the bridge via the SCV and SR011).

Some of us are familiar with the scenario being present during the bridge shut down in the 80’s.

Everyone needs to know that in the State of PA, Ambulances cannot exceed the speed limit even when using lights and sirens. The Ambulance must stop at all stop signs and Red signals and wait until the right of way is given. The Ambulance only uses lights and sirens during response when the provided information indicates that a probable life threatening situation exists. When transporting a patient, lights and sirens are only used to address actual patient condition and the need for emergency intervention not available inside the ambulance.
Approximately 25% of our responses require lights and sirens and only 4% are used when transporting a patient to a hospital.
