As Pro Bono Month (October) comes to a close, we are honored to announce that Nelson Mullins has been honored with the Community Champion Award from the Community Law Center, Inc. (CLC) for our contributions to its impactful Pro Bono Program. This partnership is part of our Pro Bono Team's dedication to supporting communities in need and expanding access to legal services.
Special recognition goes to Andrea Olsen-Leyden, an active CLC Board Member who continues to inspire through her commitment to pro bono service, who accepted the award on Nelson Mullins' behalf. Andrea recently collaborated with colleagues Eric J. Smith and Ryan Maher on a case to help a longstanding client acquire a property for workforce development—a project that had a profound impact and paved the way for even more Nelson Mullins attorneys to lend their expertise.

Earlier this year, CFCR, alongside Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, filed a lawsuit against the North Carolina Department of Public Safety (NCDPS) addressing the unconstitutional practice of holding children in solitary confinement, as well as denying their constitutional right to an education.
