I moved to Nashville a little more than 1 year ago and started my own practice not knowing a single person in the entire city.
After being full time at my practice for less than 6 month, I have been able to treat over 350 patients in the Nashville area and we are only getting started.

The upper trapezius muscle is typically one of the most overused and overworked muscles in the body. This is the muscle that carries all of our stress. 😩😩
When we are stressed we naturally hike or shoulders up to our ears as a subconscious coping mechanism. This causes the upper trap muscle to continuously work without ever getting a break. 😥😥

🧠The rhomboids are one of the muscle groups that attach the shoulder blades to the spine. They are typically underdeveloped in people who exhibit scapular winging and can be overworked by people who sit for long periods of the day.
💉Dry needling is used to loosen tight muscles by finding the most irritable spot of a muscle and causing the muscle to contract and “reset”. There is no medication injected, just a standard acupuncture needle.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
HBOT is used in many hospital settings for the treatment of disease and burns, but it can also be used in an orthopedic setting.
Patients typically utilize the hyperbaric oxygen chamber in 30 or 60 minute increments.
Patients say they have noticed significant changes in pain, anxiety, recovery, and stress with consistent use of the chamber.

Collagen is the glue that holds our bodies together.
It keeps our joints,tendons,ligaments, and skin functioning properly. Supplementation is acceptable when necessary, but collagen is more bioavailable (easily absorbed) in whole food sources.
The more collagen we take in, the more bulletproof our bodies become
The most uncommon cause of “sciatica” is sciatica! Sciatic neuritis is most common post-surgery and, as mentioned, there is no position that relieves the pain.
If you, or someone you know, think you have sciatica refer to previous posts to see what the most probable cause is!
I have seen far too many patients come in for care saying that they have tried everything and going to a chiropractor is the last hope, when in reality it should be the first place to go!
There are certainly cases where bypassing certain steps are required but I have seen too many people skip through conservative care and elect for injections or surgery.
It is my job to use conservative care on patients to alleviate their pain. If I cannot do this in 4-6 visits, a referral for appropriate imaging or to the appropriate physician will be made.
It’s not always this simple...but sometimes it is. Most jobs are repetitive and cyclical meaning we put ourselves in the same positions and perform the same movements for days, weeks, months, and years.
Our bodys adapt to these movements and instead of being able to move freely in every range of motion we can only move in the motions we are used to.
Extend the low back, extend the hips, extend the shoulders.
Move in planes that you aren’t used to... your body needs it!
You are what you repeatedly do! The way you walk/run, the way we sit/stand over years and years takes a toll on your body.
If we have improper biomechanics it causes some muscles to be overused and others to be underutilized. If you have a desk job and sit 8+ hours a day think of all the stress being put on the different muscles and joints in the body.
The more we move the less these postural muscles will be overused.
Move and move functionally!
Magnesium is a nutrient used by the body in over 300 cellular reactions, yet about 65% of Americans do not meet the daily recommended intake.
The main functions of magnesium in the body include enhancing bone strength, regulating blood sugar & blood pressure, and increasing muscle and nerve functions. Magnesium also acts an electrical conductor that plays a role in the hearts ability to contract.
Are you getting enough Magnesium?
Motion is lotion! The older we get the more we should be moving. The more sedentary we get the more degeneration occurs in our spines/bodies. Whatever gets you moving, do it!
Whether it’s golf, basketball, biking, walking CrossFit. Move!
A vitamin D deficiency is one of the most common vitamin deficiencies in the United States. As most people know this vitamin is mainly attained from sunlight, but can also be received through diet.
Vitamin D is believed to play a large role in Mood changes especially with winter. Could supplementation with Vitamin D or increasing the intake of the listed foods help? Perhaps!
The most common cause of sciatic pain I have seen in practice is disc herniations! Sedentary jobs or blue collar jobs often require tons of sitting and/or bending. Most people’s low backs are able to bend forward fine, but how often do we actually bend them backwards? Constant forward bending causes disruption inside the discs leading to back pain and potentially sciatica. There is no problem with forward bending at all, but we just simply do not bend backwards enough. Bend backwards. Extend the low back!
Do you have “sciatica” or know someone suffering from it? I hear the word sciatica thrown around a lot, but is the actual problem coming from the sciatic nerve? In most of the cases I have seen, sciatic pain originated from the lumbar spine or a muscular trigger point in the glutes.
I will give a breakdown of each of these situations in future posts!
Omega 3 fatty acids are essential, meaning the body cannot produce them and they must be received via food or supplementation. Omega 3s are often referred to as the good fats because the fight off the bad fats (LDLs) in blood vessels to prevent plaque build up
There are 3 types of Omega 3 fatty acids:
Alpha linoleic Acid (ALA)
Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EHA)
Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)
ALA is the main type of Omega 3 fatty acid found in pants and nuts. ALA must be converted to EHA before it is able to produce its effects on the body. Human beings convert ALA to EHA to a very minimal extent, so the fatty acids found in plants and nuts are not easily used. Fatty fish and fish oils have an abundance of EHA and DHA which are much more readily used by the body
