✨Flexibility vs Mobility✨

Mobility training has become all the rage but what does it actually mean 🤔

Flexibility is the movement and range a joint has passively. People can be incredibly flexible but not have great mobility.

Mobility is the ability to control and utilize your range of motion, this mostly comes from strength training utilizing a full range of motion.

Joints at our shoulders, hips, and mid back require mobility to help us move.

If you feel like you are lacking mobility a Physical Therapist can be a great resource to help address pain and improve mobility.

Does stretching feel good, but doesn’t change your symptoms long term🤔

If this sounds familiar, you may want to change your approach to solving your issue.

For muscles like your upper traps, neck muscles, and hamstrings, there is a good chance they are “long and weak” instead of “short and strong” 😬

Save and share this post with that person who is constantly trying to stretch out their “tight” muscles

Patient Education 📚

I would say the most important thing a Physical Therapist, Personal Trainer or any other health professional do is educate their patients.

My goal is to help patients understand their “diagnosis” and feel confident in understanding how we are going to address it. ✅

If you feel lost with an issue holding you back in the gym DM me “educate” and we can discuss it!

Big News!!

As many of you have asked, “Did you change your name?” The answer is yes.

“Why the rebrand?”
Well if you know Ben, you have at some point had to listen to him talk about cars. Even before he was a physical therapist, he was kid (now a bigger kid) memorizing facts about cars, and more recently building Lego ones. So we decided why not combine the two in some capacity.

✨Born was MyoMechanix✨

Myo meaning muscle in Latin, and mechanix because everything is cooler with an X at the end. We are excited to provide the same great service under the new brand and would love your help spreading the word!

**Bri will be in a crate during sessions unless requested to join along**

✨WEIGHTLOSS is EASY, Consistency is HARD✨

What is a Calorie?

A calorie is a unit of measurement that tells us how much energy is in the food we eat. When we eat food, our bodies break it down and use the energy in the food to do things like lift, work, and function in our daily lives. Just like a car needs gas to run, our bodies need energy from food. The important thing to remember is ALL CALORIES ARE EQUAL

Be in a Caloric Deficit
Simply, we mean that we're eating less food (fewer calories) than our bodies are burning. Any easy way to identify your base caloric needs is by multiplying your bodyweight in pounds by 10. This means that any activity you do will put you into a CALORIC DEFICIT. A good rule of thumb is your Bodyweight X 12-15 ( depending on how active you are) is how many calories you need to MAINTAIN your weight.

WHY DONT I LOSE WEIGHT!!!

We as humans will always UNDERESTIMATE how many calories we eat and OVERESTIMATE how many calories we burn. The only thing that matters in losing weight is how many calories we eat vs How many calories we burn. Things that don’t matter, when we eat, what type of food it is, is it GOOD food vs BAD food.

MYTHS
Timing of your meal matters. Does an apple change whether it’s eaten at night or in the morning?

Carbs are bad for you and should be avoided. Reality: Carbohydrates are an important source of energy for the body, and they should be included in a healthy, balanced diet.

Diet Soda will make you fat. Reality: Diet Soda is a good replacement for those who normally drink regular fountain drinks. Diet soda is not a good replacement for water

Enhance PT and Performance will be adding Blood Flow Restriction therapy to our offerings.

What is Blood Flow Restriction(BFR)?

Blood-flow restriction training can help patients to make greater strength training gains while lifting lighter loads, thereby reducing the overall stress placed on the limb.

By applying the right amount of external pressure to an extremity, it's possible to maintain arterial inflow while occluding venous outflow distal to the occlusion site.

This modality can be used for post-op recovery, improved muscle growth at lower levels of training intensity, and VO2 max training!

If you have questions or may want to add it to your training comment BFR and we can talk about how it can benefit you!
