Thankful is an understatement. Yesterday I received the 2021 Jack Davis Professional Achievement Award from College of HES. I was surrounded by people I love while being honored by the university that helped make me the clinician I am today. It’s been a total privilege and pleasure being back at the Capstone this weekend. Now it’s time to enjoy some football!
I did a thing today 😊 There may or may not have been happy tears. 😭🙌🏼❤️
This is a GOOD day.
My main gal, (a straight up MVP athletic trainer I work with) seriously knows the way to my heart. She surprised me with coffee and sweets for 🥰
BEST part of my job: the team I get to work with every day! 🙌🏼 Seriously could not do my job without them.
What’s your favorite mid workday pick-me-up? Mine is 😍 Heading into afternoon clinic sufficiently caffeinated makes for a more productive day!
NEW CARDS! 🙌🏼
This is why we should aaaalllll wear a mask.
I’m so excited to discuss medical ethics and ethical clinical decision making with the first year PA students at Trevecca Nazarene University tomorrow. This is the first time I will be teaching this content, but I decided to include the Tuskegee Syphilis Study in my lecture. If you aren’t familiar with the case, I would encourage you to read up and broaden your horizons! CDC.gov/Tuskegee/timeline.htm

to this past Saturday, when I got to pick this beautiful NP up from the airport.
I met the day I left for - she and I flew together, and we lived down the hall from each other in the hotel. She was kept on for 2 more weeks after I left NYC, and now she’s home with her babies and family in Kentucky! I’m so thankful to have such a sweet, smart, down to earth friend in Jataun.
Congrats to my alma mater! So proud to be a product of The University of Alabama’s Athletic Training Education Program.
These fantastic people are the NPs & PAs I’ve been working with the past few weeks. Some of them worked their last shift with the Harlem Night crew this week. I wish I could pack them all up and take them back to work with me in Nashville when I leave New York. It’s encouraging to meet so many healthcare professionals who truly care about their patients and understand the meaning of teamwork. I’m thankful for their tireless work, selflessness, and camaraderie. They always asked “what do you need help with?” and “you doing ok?” at just the right times. To call them colleagues and friends is an honor. @ Harlem Hospital Center
A welcome site today....
I can’t tell you how much surprises like this make a difference in my ability to get through another 12hr shift treating patients here in NYC.
I had real tears when I opened this package from 😭🥰
They know me so well! Thank you 🙏🙏🙏

Me: you need to clean your camera lens. The pics are hazy.
Amy: my phone is in a ziplock bag for covid safety.
Me: well, that makes sense.
Not a whole lot to update other than she finally has finished her training and will join the ranks tomorrow, then probably move to night shift. She says the hospital staff is great and very thankful to have them there. Will update as I know more.
🎧 SOUND ON!
So I was already in my hotel room by 7pm (short day today), but you can faintly hear some 7pm cheering from the people of
I’ll start night shift tomorrow night, so I’ll try to get some better video then! 🥰
Sunday update: we received our assignment, and traveled to Harlem Hospital this morning. We had gotten conflicting messages about when we would start our shifts, and found out this morning we start TOMORROW morning. 😆
But we were able to see the hospital, figure out who to report to, etc. We also had some online EMR training last night to get us up to speed on how to chart on our patients. So, 8:30am tomorrow - we will be put to work seeing patients! Put me in, coach!
We have heard some pretty terrible stories about the lack of supplies for some of the other hospitals in the area - not so much PPE, but rather medications that are needed to treat the very ill. That makes a clinician’s job so much harder - not having what you need to treat someone. So pray for the supply chain to open up and medication and supplies needed to come flying into !!!
Next stop: Harlem Hospital. We finally received our assignments, and I’ll be stationed at Harlem Hospital starting tomorrow morning. Please pray for the staff that we will be helping as well as the patients we will treat. We are coming into THEIR house tomorrow, and my hope is to only add value to their day and to their work, never to take away or make their jobs harder.
Saying I’m thankful for the opportunity to be here is a massive understatement. More updates tomorrow!
Quick update on the here in NYC. We are settled in the hotel and had a day to get acclimated yesterday. Our planned start day in the field was yesterday, then it was pushed to today, but today we are still waiting on assignments from the local hospitals. Mobilizing hundreds of healthcare workers is no easy task, so flexibility and patience are the keywords for today. We will be getting a few hundred more healthcare professionals settled in today that will be deployed to the field in the coming days.
NY state governor has issued a statement that recommends every person who goes outside their home should wear something to cover their mouth and nose. I wore one of the masks sent me this morning, and you guys - it’s a struggle just breathing while walking up the stairs in that mask!🥵
In the meantime while we wait to be sent to the field, I’m fueled adequately (BIG thanks to the 100% ESSENTIAL workers at 🙌🏼☕️) and am reviewing protocols for triage, consults, and escalating care. (Thanks to for the excellent + concise info!)
More updates to come later!
If you had told me 2 weeks ago that I’d be on a plane to NYC today, I wouldn’t have believed you. Things happen for a reason, whatever reason that may be. The current pandemic has impacted so many, including myself. The elimination of my previous position in orthopedics last week freed me up to work in emergency response in New York for the next 3 weeks. I’m thankful for the opportunity to go and work. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about what lies in front of me for the next 21 days. I don’t live my life in a spirit of fear, so I choose to go where needed. We’re all in this together, y’all. See you in a few weeks, Nashville! ❤️ @ Nashville International Airport

Nashville Tornado: How to Help, Where to Get Help Find out where to donate, how to volunteer and where to go if you need a hand after Tuesday morning's storm
We are safe here in Nashville after the storms last night. Praying for those that were affected. Nashville is a strong city and we lean on each other in times of need!
Thankful for Dr. Andrews and his contribution to the field of sports medicine. He was in the OR for the very first surgeries I ever observed. I’m thrilled to listen to him deliver the keynote address at the meeting!
Y’all. I have to brag on my husband a bit. His first feature-length documentary film is now on !!! I know I’m biased, but it’s a really good movie! (I’ve watched it about 10 times, and I still think it’s good...) You should watch it! Proud of you, 👏👏👏
