: Tune in to your physical body.
How do you tune into your body? One way is to focus on individual sounds around you. For one minute, see how many different noises you can hear. The sound of the fan in the corner, beeping trucks driving by, maybe the murmur of the radio, birds in the sky, the purr of your cat.
When we start to really listen for each individual sound instead of letting them be a blanket of noise, we practice the art of tuning in. Tune back into your body, and feel your stress levels fall.

There's a reason we often refer to floating as a "practice". It takes work to be fully present in the tank.
But when your brain goes on a walkabout, remember that your only responsibility in that moment is to BE right where you are.
Just be.
Self-care is an essential part of life that should never be overlooked. Whether it's taking a break, exercising, or planning time to come see us, it's essential to give yourself the attention and care you need to stay healthy.
: Don't let your thoughts create more anxiety!
This little trick can help slow the high-speed train of anxiety going through your mind. Replace the anxious thoughts by focusing on what you see around you, and naming it in your mind. If the mind stops focusing on the anxious thoughts, it forgets that it was anxious in the first place.
Look around you and name what you see. Purple blanket. Pretty flower. Cup of coffee. Framed picture. White napkin. Yellow dress. Keep naming things until you feel your heart rate slow.
Remember that you get to choose what you focus on, and you are in control.

Sometimes people come in and ask if they can wear a swimsuit when they float. When we say that we prefer that you don't - and we recommend that you don't - they ask why we show pictures of people floating while wearing swimsuits on our social media.
Um. Because we can't show the alternative, you all. 😉😆
In all seriousness, floating is so much better without restrictive spandex crawling all up in the wrong spots, getting covered in salt water that starts to get itchy when it dries on the fabric, and causing constant distractions.

When I heard this quote, it instantly made me think about how folks sometimes say they could never try floating. Their reason is usually that they would be so bored, don't want to be alone with their thoughts, or just don't have the time for it.
And in any of those cases, they're right. If you don't think it'll be worth your time, it won't.
But we see guests every single day constantly amazed at how great they feel post-float.
