New Castle Henry County EDC

In 2014, New Castle Main Street: The Heart of New Castle was launched, dedicated to renewing the downtown district. With the help of the Henry County Community Foundation and the Indiana Small Business Development Center (Indiana SBDC), they’ve seen incredible progress. From pop-up shops to workshops for aspiring entrepreneurs, the community is thriving.

“The COVID pandemic became an impetus for us because people saw that everything they need is right here in our community,” said Executive Director Carrie Barrett.

A Pop Up Shop is ready to welcome some aspiring entrepreneurs this summer! Our calendar is currently wide open. If you have a home-based business, or are an artisan or maker without a brick and mortar space to call your own, considering giving this space a try this summer. (As a reminder, we are unable to offer this space to consultants for direct selling companies.)

The weekends that qualify for the holiday weekend rate are:
Independence Day (Thursday July 4-Sunday July 7)
Labor Day (Friday August 30-Monday September 2)

May 6 - 10 is Economic Development Week. Throughout this week, we will share info about our recent activity and impact.

Grant funds from the EPA help assess commercial properties for the presence of environmental issues that can prohibit the sale or complicate its reuse.

Approximately 30 properties have been assessed to date.

Penny York, Special Projects, is the point of contact for this program and can be reached by calling 521-7402.

Boar’s Head is hosting open interviews next week at the Henry County REMC.

We are incredibly honored to share that East Central has received $35 million in funding from READI 2.0! Our region was awarded with the second largest tier of funding!

East Central Ind. org aims for more funding, influential projects in READI 2.0 proposal - Inside INdiana Business After a deadline for a major state funding program passed last Friday, the CEO of the East Central Indiana Regional Partnership laid out the organization's priorities in hopes of snagging more funding this round and addressing issues residents have voiced.

Our Board of Directors met this morning at the Henry County REMC. The guest presentation was delivered by the New Castle Career Center and two students and a graduate of the Machine Trades class.

This is an excellent program preparing students for their chosen vocation.
