Violet is 4- she is YOUR granddaughter- at the least, I treat her like the mature human she has become, will be her dad over her friend, and ensure she is prepared for this world despite its challenges.

We are surprised at the differences parenting in 2022 has created, but take it in stride; doctors heal bodies, therapists heal minds and story tellers heal souls!

It has been 13 years, I know that you are watching over us and keeping us safe. All of the shenanigans down here that have happened will have so much to talk about one day. I will never forget all the things that you taught me. I miss your jokes, sayings and laughter. I love and miss you daddy.

12 years ago you left this earth. You will never be forgotten and all the things that you had accomplished. The happiness, love and lessons you taught me will never be replaced. Miss you daddy.

Dear Cooper High School parents and guardians,

We are excited to share news of the Cooper High School auditorium and front entrance renovation that will start this summer. As we look forward to welcoming these updates, we are seeking your feedback on a proposal to name the Robbinsdale Cooper High School auditorium after one of our long-time Cooper High School teachers, Ertwin “Ert” Jones-Hermerding.

As a speech/communication teacher and football coach in the Robbinsdale Area School District for 34 years, Ert endeared himself to thousands of students. He encouraged students to try new things and find their passion, some of whom are Hollywood actors such as Mo Collins and Steve Zahn. Some of his former students shared that he made learning fun, was creative and passionate, and was a great mentor.

Mr. Jones-Hermerding passed away on August 16, 2009. He had an ability to establish strong connections with students, and holds a range of honors and awards. He directed nearly 150 theatrical productions at Robbinsdale Schools. He was also a football coach who led the Cooper team to a pair of conference titles in 1984-85. He was coach of the year, and was given the Distinguished Alumni Award from Augsburg College, where he graduated in 1969.

Memorial Day has a strong meaning for our family. My father believed that the stories of loved ones live on in us and must be shared for fear of being forgotten. Be a story teller, yes, but remember: a very important role is that of 'listener.'

After burning bright as a story-teller in life, I believe Ert is eternally listening...
