Elizabeth Tailor will be closing at the end of March.
This is not a sad thing! The lease is up and it’s time to move on. I started this business out of necessity, it kept a roof over my head for 8 months and I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished in that time. I never wanted to be my own boss or run a business and am very happy and excited to start the next chapter of life. Thank you so much to the clients who have trusted me to make you feel good in your clothes.
I will continue to accept alterations for completion by March 30th until availability runs out. Got TONS of thrifted, up-cycled, new with tags clothing, costumes and a selection of bridal wear available at a 50% discount! $5 rack and a FREE bin available as always. It has been brought to my attention that the choice of name in combination with some of our advertisements has caused concern about the public perception of the store as being disingenuous. I am wanting to wholeheartedly express that I hear you, I’m listening, I’m learning from my mistakes and taking action. I understand that while my intentions were to give credit, pay homage and promote inclusivity, my actions read as co-opting a Haitian appearance. For that I would like to formally apologize to people of Haitian and Creole lineage. It was selfish of me to rush a store opening when something as precious as cultural identity was at risk. I am hopeful for, but do not expect forgiveness.

After speaking with friends, family, consultants and listening to the advice of my POC peers I do believe changing the store name is the most ethical and respectful course of action. We will officially be know as Coudre Fabrics. Those who have purchased t-shirts should expect replacements via mail or local drop-off.
In addition to the name change I will be putting more transparency into action with featured individuals and implementing a final approval check for muses and models before content is posted.
Coudre will still be committed to showcasing the diversity of the melting pot that is New Orleans. It is understood that you don’t have to say it if you are about it.

Thank you to the BIPOC individuals who have reached out to express their concerns and especially to those who volunteered their time and energy to guide me in how I can be more considerate in the future. I hope to continue to be held accountable.
