❓️💵Should we turn our A/C off when we leave during the day to save money?

Absolutely not. In fact by turning your system completely off during the day and then back on when you get home you're causing your system to struggle to catch up. This is not saving you any money and actually causing unwanted and unnecessary wear and tear on your system.

Keeping your thermostat set on a constant temperature and leaving it alone is the best thing that you can do.

Turning your thermostat off completely or putting the temperature extremely high will cause the humidity in your home to rise as well as the temperature.

Our recommendation is to set the thermostat no more than 4 degrees higher than you would normally keep it when you are home or pick a comfortable temperature and leave it alone.

Here are a few more tips to help make sure that your home is comfortable for you and your family:

Clean or replace your air filters regularly

Have your system cleaned and serviced regularly

(It's not too late. If your system is "not keeping up" and you haven't had it serviced this year you could benefit greatly from having it cleaned and serviced.)

Check and replace the batteries in your thermostat (if it uses batteries)

Make sure your thermostat is accurate

Keep windows covered during the heat of the day

NO, THIS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA!!

Heat is removed from the refrigerant, blowing hot air up and out the unit. With a cover over your unit the air cannot escape upward so then it comes back down into the sides of the condenser coil making it harder to cool the refrigerant down.

THIS WILL NOT HELP AND WILL ONLY MAKE YOUR UNIT HAVE TO WORK HARDER
