Louisiana History Alive

EVERY ARIA WAS DONE TO ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!!!
19th century opera diva, Adelina Patti performed classical arias from the likes of Donizetti, Verdi, and Gounod to the delight of one of the largest audiences so far in Louisiana History Alive 3rd Sunday Salons.

NEXT MONTH: Lieutenant Governor C.C. Antoine conducts a self-titled salon: "Three Times' A Charm: The Life and Times of Free-Man, Solider, Politician, Caesar C. Antoine". The event, held as a part of Louisiana History Alive 3rd Sunday Salons will be Sunday, September 21, 2014 @ 8pm, eleven days after the Lieutenant Governor's birthday.

African Heritage City

HOWARD THEATRE, Washington, DC, opened 1910. Pictured with a portrait of Original Founder, Andrew Thomas...Jim Crow laws and culture did not allow black artists to play at “white only” downtown theaters. As a result, a string of entertainment venues throughout eastern and southern United States known as the “Chitlin’ Circuit” were created to give black audiences a place to see black performers. Howard Theater, was the oldest in theater in the “Chitlin’ Circuit”.
