This is a week from tonight. I'm rather excited. Mixed musics from James Singleton, the inimitable and always incognito Phil Degruy, and my daughter, Sasha Elliahna Durta.

My girl's got some pipes, and she's fortunate and I'm eternally grateful that she has had a chance to work a bit and perform a bit with these great master artists of our city... She sang with them as an infant and a toddler, and now she's singing with them again right before she goes to college... Please join us if you can... Spread the word... I trust there will be moments of high power... Scatterjazz has been curating sound-sculpture for a long time, and it's always a new one, but This is a new one...

*This is a lovely crock of sauerkraut (scatter-kraut) made with peaches from Jaemor Farm in North Georgia and Fresno chilis...
**And my lovely daughter will be singing Tuesday July 9 at the BB's Stage Door Canteen at the WWII museum for the "Stage Door Idol" competition at 6pm... In case YOU can make it, please know that the crowd response is part of the "judging" the victor to continue on to the the Finals in August... Please do come out should you be able... She'll have a 40's classic up her sleeve for the occasion...

Big (to me) news: "tomorrow", Wednesday May 29th, Id like to recommend coming to hear the inimitable PHIL DEGRUY in an All-Ages happy hour (6pm to 8pm) sound adventure at Chickie Wah Wah... He's a legend and an old pal, and during the first set, he will be joined by a singer who is dear to me, and some say she looks quite like me... She has done plenty of theater work for crowds... This is her "club premiere," unless you saw her as a toddler when her knucklehead father used to put her on stage with local maestros....
Again, ALL-AGES, the special guest will be around 6:30 for just two tunes they've been working up....

Those of us whom leave here realize the embarrassment of sonic riches we swim in, esp at high holiday time... Tonite (Weds) is no exception and I recommend these among the many:
8pm -- "halfa-double bill" at Happyland Theater , one band, two leaders... The musics of Jonathan Freilich & James Singleton, consecutively interpreted in two sets alongside Skerik Sin Carne and the great and good and giggling Johnny Vidacovich

Having been in the total eclipse in my dear old stomping grounds of Bloomington, IN, it's hard for me to find much to talk about... BUT I can say for certain that this 3-nite run at the Happyland Theater Weds-Thurs-Fri April 10-11-12 will be on par with any of the most superlative sound sculpture one could dream of stewing up... This is Tuesday!! At the new Broadside NOLA Indoor Annex (it looks like lovely weather, But if not, the new indoor space has you covered!)
What a splendid double bill--two of the most compelling "working" units around... Fluttermite (formerly sort of known as the Synth-Bomb Trio) makes Picnic Music for the Peaceful New Armageddon and features Helen M Gillet , Daniel Meinecke & Byron Asher ... The second delightful sound sculpture features Byron again plus Tomas Majcherski , Matt Booth & Doug Garrison ... "What more could one ask for?" one might ask?? The answer is, MANY new SAURKRAUTS, pickles, etc since you saw me last, even if you saw me two weeks back at Instigation Festival Night 2 ... (For example, two Dynamite sauerkrauts, one with cranberries and poblanos, one with sour kumquats and cubanelle peppers... As well as some beautiful Cajun pumpkin from Farmer Timmy at the market and some inimitively great local raw honey from Jay Martin fermented with black cherries..)

The Spirit of the Sidebar sneaks into souls this Saturday at the HAPPYLAND at 3126 Burgundy... This is the final scatterjazz Hee-Haw on the docket for the foreseeable future... Summertime, who needs crazy music, you know the drill. I'd be thrilled to present some more things this summer and beyond but nothing is scheduled at the moment. Which makes it all the more pertinent that you come out Saturday to the Happyland! This is going to be exceptional, certainly unlike any other concert that has ever happened in history, as none of these three local friends have ever met Crowmeat Bob before.
Quintron sent him my way a few months ago with the very highest recommendations and regards, and that's good enough for me. I can't wait to hear what these Wild creative sensitive sound sculptors have in store for us tomorrow, it's sure to be exhilarating. I will also have some excellent sauerkrauts, pickles, that sort of thing. Do come say hello! And do please, please, share and spread the word!
