But no, it's Bernadette, the beautiful, foul-mouthed daughter of a crime family.
In this wild spoof of Shakespeare’s timeless tale, Romeo yes, THAT Romeo - awakens and finds himself in 1960 Brooklyn, chasing a girl he believes is his beloved Juliet.

We are PROUD that we get to perform in a city where millions gather for LGBTQIA+ , to protest injustice and discrimination and fight for everyone’s right to equality and love. As the bard famously said: “Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds, or bends with the remover to remove. O no! It is an ever-fixed mark that looks on tempests and is never shaken.”
Forget Juliet! Anna Kostakis plays "Bernadette", the feisty, foul-mouthed daughter of mob boss, Sal Penza. But deep down, all she wants is everlasting love. Little does she know that her Romeo out there, is THE Romeo.

"The five-piece orchestra delivers a big sound and is right on target matching the remarkable voices they accompany. Costume design by Joseph Shrope is period worthy and detailed. Director Justin Ross Cohen deftly directs his cast and develops emotional, larger than life characters that do not fall prey to one-dimensional stereotypes." - Joseph Verlezza, Theatre Reviews Limited

“ROMEO & BERNADETTE is a musical comedy worthy of the name that delivers on all counts. Mark Saltzman’s spoofing of the old story is great fun and his lines are very clever. The score with its famous melodies transformed in new ways is a lush feast for the ears particularly as sung by this excellent cast. One only hopes that the threat of the real story of Hamlet comes as a follow-up.” - TheaterScene.net
Romeo & Bernadette: A Musical Tale of Verona & Brooklyn - TheaterScene.net A witty and clever musical comedy worthy of the name that delivers on all counts updating the old story as a spoof for our time.
