Normal Ave
Normal Ave exists as a shared desire to bring theatre to New York audiences that is socially relevant and emotionally stimulating.
3 parties. 4 plays. One wild weekend.
Normal Ave is proud to announce the NAPSeries, a festival of new plays featuring 29-hour workshops of four new plays, networking events, and more.
The festival will feature three parties, four shows, tons of artists and, most importantly, you, the playwright.
This week is all about letting you be JUST THE PLAYWRIGHT. We'll take care of the rest. Participating playwrights will be provided with rehearsal and reading space, a creative team and cast for their show, help to develop their show, as well as access to the entire festival.
We don't tell you how to bloom, but we'll help you grow.
Submission Deadline: Monday, March 6, 2023, at 11:59p ET
Festival Dates: September 5-17, 2023
Submission Requirements:
-Currently only accepting full-length plays & musicals
-Must be 18 years or older to participate
-Must be available to be in NYC during the festival dates
We are gathering minds to see the potential of a multitude of plays (and this year ) and applying to our 29-hour festival.

The Commitment: This is a virtual March-April 2023 commitment. You would be an application evaluator for the first round of the process. Responsibilities include attending a virtual Reader Orientation prior to March 10 and reviewing assigned applications by April 10. At this time, this is a position.
•
Our volunteer application evaluators will be responsible for reading and reviewing each application and accompanying 10-page sample. Each application and sample will be read by two different evaluators to ensure thorough consideration. The committee will then review the responses to the applications and select semi-finalists.
•
If the idea of new work excites you, if you enjoy reading plays (or at least their 10 page samples!!) please email us at [email protected]

Theatre serves us in many ways- it entertains us, transports us, and also teaches us. Sometimes those lessons can make us uncomfortable. At Normal Ave, we believe in normalizing that discomfort. To be uncomfortable is to learn. To be uncomfortable is to grow. Get comfortable making yourself uncomfortable.
