Every single hour of every single day, civilians in Gaza – over 50% of them children – are experiencing a brutal, waking nightmare. Through it all, the U.S. has failed to meaningfully address the unimaginable human suffering.
Demand an immediate, sustained ceasefire now to prevent further loss of civilian lives, ensure access to life-saving humanitarian aid, and secure the safe release of hostages.

GOOD NEWS! Chang Weiping was released from jail, but many other Chinese human rights defenders have faced surveillance and harassment even after being "freed".
The Chinese government must ensure Chang does not face further restrictions outside prison.
The recent ruling is a historic victory for equality and human rights in South Korea. The Court has taken a significant step towards dismantling systemic discrimination and ensuring inclusivity for all.
Authorities must now take further steps to protect the rights of LGBTI individuals in South Korea by legalizing marriage equality and enacting a comprehensive anti-discrimination law.
China issued judicial guidelines last month to encourage prosecuting acts aimed at the pursuit of Taiwan independence. The harsh punishments include the death sentence.
The Chinese authorities are cracking down on the rights to freedom of expression and other human rights under the pretext of national security. Amnesty International and four other organizations call on the Chinese authorities to immediately withdraw the guidelines and repeal the death penalty.
As the Olympics ceremony kick off today in Paris, here's our take on France's hijab ban for their female athletes with Isra Speaks 😡 😡
The values of the Olympics are excellence, respect and friendship. The host country above all should honor these. To achieve this France must lift hijab bans in sports.

Racially disproportionate police violence undermines the human right to life. Ensuring the safety of Black women and girls shouldn’t be revolutionary. It should be a standard.

Today Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be addressing a joint session of Congress.
His visit comes as daily military strikes in Gaza, powered by US-made weapons, are killing children and tearing families apart. At the same timae, Netanyahu has evaded calls for a ceasefire and denied critical humanitarian aid, even as Palestinian civilians are being starved and remain at risk of genocide.
Still, Congressional leadership invited him to speak, and the US continues to transfer BILLIONS of dollars in weapons to the Israeli government, despite overwhelming evidence we’ve found that these weapons have been used to commit war crimes.
We need our elected lawmakers to hear that the US must protect civilian lives, NOT enable more war crimes.

Today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is coming to the US to speak to Congress. His visit comes as daily military strikes in Gaza are repeatedly killing children and tearing families apart.

Bangladeshi authorities have used unlawful force against student protesters and failed to ensure their protection during the ongoing ‘Bangla-Blockade’ quota-reform protest across the country.
To stop these systematic human rights violations Israel’s illegal occupation must end.
THIS THIS THIS
In recent weeks, tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets across Israel demanding that the Israeli authorities agree a ceasefire agreement and negotiate the release of hostages. Families of hostages are continuing their march from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem today.
See you in court
We welcome this decision from the International Court of Justice. The Israeli Government must end its occupation of Palestine to stop fueling apartheid and systematic violations of international law.
The climate crisis is a *human rights* crisis.
Harrowing torture testimony from 27 former detainees, including a 14-year-old boy in a new Amnesty release.
The Israeli military initially invoked its Unlawful Combatants Law to hold alleged participants in the 7 October attacks, but shortly thereafter expanded its use to detain Palestinians from Gaza en masse without charge or trial. According to Hamoked, an Israeli NGO, as of 1 July 2024, 1,402 Palestinians were detained under the Unlawful Combatants law.
The lack of due process means that both civilians and those directly engaging in hostilities have been detained under this law. Israeli authorities must immediately repeal this law and release those arbitrarily detained under it.
Laura Davy was sentenced to three months in jail for taking part in a climate protest.
Today’s fossil fuel economy is powered and funded by companies and government officials who benefit from the current system. They decide if we continue to extract and burn fossil fuels that have devastating consequences for human rights. Shouldn't it be them who are held accountable not those exercising their right to protest?
In a powerful show of global solidarity, 354,847 signatures have been collected calling on the Taliban de-facto authorities to respect and protect human rights in Afghanistan. As the catastrophic human rights situation persists, we must continue our joint demand for accountability and justice in Afghanistan.
Hostage-taking is a war crime. Those still alive have spent over nine months now held hostage, away from their loved ones. There can be no justification for inflicting such trauma and anguish on them and their families.
Edward Awebwa must be immediately released and his sentence revoked. Ugandan authorities must respect and uphold the right to freedom of expression.
🎉 Congratulations to our newly elected members of our Board of Directors! They are leaders in the human rights field who bring exceptional talent and experience to our grassroots movement.
