Online participants will be shared on complementary materials provided by the artists and curators for a mode of deeper engagement and will be invited to connect asynchronously with online participants around the world, and in 2 live online synchronized conversations, moderated by guest and Fellow participants.

There’s ample time to engage the work as the complete film programs and materials will remain online for those registered until July 21st, and be available after the seminar to all of 𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗢’𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀.

𝗧𝗢 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗘 asks how artists are expanding the imaginative possibilities of communing through documentary forms. Programmers 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝘀 [ ] & 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗷 [ ] emphasize how filmmakers, especially those connected to the Global South, are inheriting surprising legacies of historical efforts to commune. They are opening up artistic explorations of communal capacities in spaces and situations such as the classroom, the ritual, the carnival, the film set, the potent site, the gathering and the protest.

We are beyond honored to be hosting a two-night focus on the legendary filmmaker Gaitán next week 5/30 & 6/2 with the films NOITE and SUBTLE INTERFERENCES.

This filmmaker focus follows Gaitán’s participation in a workshop this weekend at uniondocs with Pablo Álvarez-Mesa where she was blowing minds with her forward thinking practice and approach to sound, music and documentary.

As our most admired and astute collaborator wrote of her work, she is “one of the most exciting contemporary artists and filmmakers of our time, whose work is both brutally sensitive and free, Gaitán aligns a strange capacity to listen to all things around and respond to them through radically singular gestures. Her films are not only voyages through deep modes of thinking and feeling, but also strange investigations on the minimal and most subtle aspects of the encounter between the camera and the world.

Not really interested in canons, norms and “good practices”, Paula Gaitán obsessively looks for the vibration of things in the filmic matter, for how life is manifested in a filming body.”

called the body of work of the Colombian-Brazilian filmmaker, “one of the most radical and uncompromising to appear in Latin America in the last 30 years…ever occupied by the forceful movement of a human body in and through a space; a background in poetry and the visual arts seemingly setting the stage for a performative, mutant, and highly material cinema.”

It’s been the most wonderful, rewarding and hugely inspiring time to have Jessica Beshir hanging around UNDO the past couple of months supporting the in the development of their forthcoming projects as a project mentor.
