Designing the places we live and love most.

At the end of our full service projects, I personally handle the styling and finishing touches. Unique vessels and fresh florals like these bring the room to life. I also love to provide dried florals as an option for clients to keep their vases filled when they don’t have fresh branches.

My favorite aspect of this cozy corner is the soft velvet on the sofa in the rich, warm fawn color. This corner was not always so cozy. My clients had a stiff leather sofa with base cushions that would slide off when you tried to recline. This new landing pad for family movie night easily fits parents and two growing boys. And we just barely made it work, counting the inches for clearance and fit!

How do you turn an open concept room into two separate living spaces without making it feel small? I wanted to avoid using a wall or rigid room divider, which would be a hazard to their young boys and block the light. So I had the idea to commission a custom tapestry, a soft and transparent solution that allows light and air to pass through. The result is this incredible piece of art designed and hand-tied by the folks at Caralarga. It’s my client’s favorite aspect of their newly designed home!

We love to style a room with objects that serve a purpose AND are beautifully designed. It saves space, simplifies living, and encourages the use of quality materials. It can even bring joy to the more mundane aspects of life. This pink beauty makes it so much fun to water the plants!

Project management is a crucial aspect of what we do for our clients, just as important as the design portion. There are dozens of moving parts on a project that must be coordinated strategically. Using a baking analogy, the ingredients must be put together in a certain order and baked within a certain timeframe to make a great cake. We take the stress off our clients by knowing and executing the recipe for them.
We love it that Chris pointed out this important part of what we do when he recommended us to a friend! 🙌🥰

Soft linens + fluffy pillows + serene colors + dimmable light + personal art = cozy corner to escape the world.
For this apartment rental we saw the limited space as an opportunity to create an intimate, restful experience for our client. The bedroom is where the day starts and ends. It should be a place of respite.
We selected all new furniture, a storage system, and styled the whole space. Here you get a peek at the removable, recyclable wallpaper that added depth and character to the room.

Our project was done completely through remote design services, pre-Covid! We did everything from the new design of the facade & roof line to the custom kitchen and furniture pieces. Here you can see that we used blush accent chairs to create visual interest and compliment the sage accent wall in the bedroom. This results in a warm and inviting space for all our client’s Airbnb guests.

3D visualizations are one of our favorite methods of communicating design ideas with our clients and helping them make decisions. It is a skill and a tool that made us experts at remote design well before Covid hit.
For this new construction of a back house garage apartment, we worked out everything from bigger picture items like kitchen and bath placement, window sizes and locations, and deck/stair options, to smaller details such as light fixture scale, wallpaper selection, tile backsplash, and rug sizes. It got our clients excited about the end goal and maintained their trust during the long process to getting there.
We use a variety of visualizations in every project to communicate design intent. Our clients love knowing what to expect and feeling confident about the many choices that go into their home design.

This serene corner of our project features locale specific art ( ), tranquil wallpaper, and wall sconces with switching and dimming right next to the bed. Being able to control your lighting from bed is everything. If you don’t have the opportunity to hardwire your lighting this way, you can get the same effect with plug-in fixtures. If your light fixtures don’t have dimming capabilities, there are bulbs and smart plugs that can do it. Want the very best in lighting control at the bed? Make it a smart switch that gives you control at the wall, on a remote that pops out of the wall, and from your smart device. Falling asleep while reading has never been easier.

It’s Women’s History Month! And I am so thankful for the incredible women in my heritage - especially my mother, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers. They
created a legacy of courage, grit, and tenacity. There is a history of women starting their own businesses in my family! My Grandma Fox started a dog grooming business after her husband suddenly passed away and left her a single mom of six children. Her sister, my great aunt, had a framing business in Grand Rapids. She was once named Michigan’s business woman of the year. My Mama had a candle shop in Houston. She gave me my first set of rubber stamps and taught me to make stationary to sell at the local craft fair. My mom started a university model school in Houston. My sister started a hand crafted vegan nail polish business that quickly enjoyed success (). I was a freelance professional dancer for many years, then pivoted to interior design through education and experience in NYC. I started my interior design business in the wake of an unexpected, traumatic divorce. I was determined to rebuild my life with greater purpose and intention.
Today I want to recognize and celebrate all women who have started their own businesses. We face unique, often unacknowledged barriers. We are challenged with crazy high expectations that we do it all, while meeting the needs of everyone around us. Is there a female business owner in your life that you are grateful for or want to celebrate? Maybe it’s you! 🙋‍♀️💃🤓💪✊🤌👏🤟🙌

I had to find out for myself, is removable wallpaper actually removable? Yes it is! AND recyclable! 💚🙌 I was so excited to try it out for myself a year after the install. It peeled right off the wall without any tools and went straight into a curbside recycling bag. I enjoy researching and getting to know the products that I specify so that I can recommend them with confidence. 💃🤓

Think you can’t have wallpaper in a rental? Think again! ⚡️ Looking for a great removable wallpaper option like this? Send us a quick DM and let's chat! 👋

Did you know that using a dark, graphic wallpaper in a small space can actually make the room feel
bigger? It may seem counter-intuitive, but it adds depth, drama, and interest. It gives the room a sense of expansiveness because the eye is encouraged to roam. We couldn’t wait to try out this
by the talented . And it did not disappoint. Bold style for a small space? ☑️ Leave no trace when the lease is up? ☑️

Small space meets big style! We had to be smart about how we used every inch of this bedroom
furnishing + styling project that was less than 100 square feet. We also had to make everything easily removable because our client’s stay in the rental apartment was temporary. The pole-mounted tension
rod closet system gave us storage space 9’ high and 5-1/2’ across, while only requiring 6 screws in the ceiling. We left ample negative space around the and bins to keep the room feeling open
and spacious. 👉 for the before photo.

Today is the first day of the virtual market! I won’t get a chance to say hello to this rusted beauty I photographed last year but I’ll still be discovering the latest work by some of the best makers in the world. We regularly attend trade shows and markets to find exciting, distinctive furnishings and makers. Not only are the Hudson Valley vendors and artists exceptional at Field + Supply but the setting on the bank of the Hudson River is 😍🙌.

Thinking of spicing up your bedroom with some wallpaper? Want to replace your dining room table and chairs before the holidays? Don’t have time to scour the internet? Having invested in trade shows over the years, we have knowledge of great products that our clients can’t find on their own and don’t have time to search for. We created a new service called “A La Carte Sourcing” to make it quick and easy for clients to utilize our resources on an as-needed basis, outside of the context of a full-scale project. Navigate to "A La Carte Sourcing" on our website and let us source some great options for you. The entire process is simple, online, and mobile friendly.

This quick little sketch saved our clients from building an addition that didn’t look anything like their existing house or historical neighborhood. They came to us with the design the builder proposed and unfortunately it looked like a bland brick box without any of the architectural details that make their home beautiful. We sketched on top of the builder’s drawing and called out the elements we recommended changing/adding. All of this was accomplished remotely! Often our clients simply need a little help here and there, some professional input along their design project journey. That is why we offer Consulting services. We provide that help without the commitment of working with us end-to-end. Check out the Consulting section of our website and get in touch if you have a project that could use a designer’s 👀 + 💡.

The way we design our homes is not focused on looking pretty or impressing the neighbors. I came across this quote from the Dalai Lama while reading and it resonated with me. Our intention is to create an environment that fosters the giving and receiving of love between one another and with ourselves. We focus on how the home makes our clients and their loved ones feel, and how it supports their everyday lives.

Architectural eye candy abounds (and surprises) in this coastal town and port off the Gulf of Mexico in Galveston, Texas. I spent many happy childhood summers on Galveston Island, it was only an hour drive from the suburbs of Houston where I grew up. This pic is from last summer while hanging out with my niece, nephews, and siblings on The Strand. The arcade of French doors is a common on The Strand, and it makes me feel like I’m in New Orleans. Give me and I’ll give you 📸 all day.

Is your bathroom windowless or otherwise unable to support plant life? You can still clip a couple leafy stems and enjoy the benefits of some green for several days (and I don’t mean dolla bills). This is my favorite way of bringing color, texture, and life to a room. For some added whimsy, plop those stems into a ceramic vase designed to look like an oil can!

How do you decorate an Airbnb or guest bedroom so that your guests feel welcome? We like to add elements that speak to the locale. In our project in Fort Worth, TX (designed remotely) we included this of books about the history of the Fairmount district, local restaurants, and this "definitive guide to being a Texan". Our clients have had nothing but 5 star reviews on Airbnb for this new construction, back house studio apartment we designed and they built. See the photos and check out their listing by searching the Fairmount-Southside Historic District, Fort Worth or the title "FORT What It's WORTH Studio Apartment". (We're not responsible for that pun, but we LOVE it. 😁)

The home entry is more important than it might seem. It's the place where you transition from private to public space and back again. You want it to be easy to leave the house, and even better to come home again. With children it's especially important. This apartment entry was crafted from a long narrow hallway that opened into a large, open space. We designed a custom wood slat to create an entry area separate from the dining room. This defined a functional transition space while still allowing all the natural light and views to come through. The magnetic is how the family communicated with their nanny during busy weeks. 👉 to see the .

When we take an average of 150 photos per month, how do we choose just a few to showcase on our home walls? Our clients have two young kids and wanted a gallery of photos that could easily be swapped out to keep up with their growing and changing, and to highlight different family memories. We typically prefer custom framing to off-the-shelf frames, but that wasn't appropriate for this application. These gallery frames from were perfect for what we needed. We loved that there were many frame sizes to choose from and that the mat sizes and formats look modern. Most importantly, they are designed for easy picture swapping. This gallery is ready to be filled and re-filled with the latest awkward school photos, scenes from family vacation, and any of those 150 photos taken every month. 🙌
