It is with great excitement that we announce the return of the Annual Contemporary Violin and Bow Makers Exhibition in 2021. Mark your calendars for this special 10th anniversary event, and stay tuned for important updates. It’s good to be back!
While we are still heartbroken that the 10th Annual Contemporary Violin Makers Exhibition has been cancelled to assure the safety of our community during COVID-19, we have many exceptional instruments by contemporary makers available for musicians to explore in our shop.
This week, we are highlighting a viola by Gábor Draskóczy modeled after the great Brescian maker Gasparo Bertolotti da Salò.
Originally from Budapest, Gábor Draskóczy developed his knowledge of instrument making alongside Bence Holló and Florian Leonhard. While working in Leonhard’s London workshop, Gabor was constantly inspired by a variety of classical Cremonese instruments, and honed his skills in making bench copies of Amati, Stradivari, Guarneri, and Guadagnini. His extraordinary work has garnered him many accolades, including the double gold medal at the prestigious Violin Society of America’s 22nd International Competition in 2016.
To try this viola - or one of the many other wonderful contemporary instruments currently available at our shop - make an appointment by calling 212-765-3275, or send us an email at [email protected]
