Happy September & Labor Day Weekend Highland Family!
We hope to see you in church Sunday morning as we come together for communion and to hear the message by Senior Pastor Subash Cherian titled, "The Spirit Reveals the Lord".
Paul, an apostle of Christ, writes to the saints who are in Ephesus giving them (us), an important look at how Christian belief should translate into Christian action. He gives his view on the value of our salvation in Christ, and the blessings we obtain from it.
He thanks God for his readers in his prayers, asking the Lord to give them (us) the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him and that the eyes of your (our) hearts be enlightened (Ephesians 1:17-18).

Please join us for Bible Study tonight at 7:30pm. We will worship, praise and hear the word from Ps. Subash Cherian, titled, "Acts 5: Holy Spirit Led (Part 4)".
The book of Acts is the story of submission, by Jesus' witnesses, to the Holy Spirit and the work He accomplishes as a result. Chapter 5 reveals what a dynamic experience this can be. The apostles consider submission to God the right thing to do even if the Holy Spirit leads them to do or experience hard things.

Sunday morning, we will get together to continue the series by Senior Pastor Subash Cherian titled, "How then, shall we live?"
In 2 Peter 2, Peter writes this letter to encourage Christians to live out the purpose of their lives in Christ. He warns readers to beware of teachers who claim to be believers, but present a false version of Christianity. And, Peter calls on all Christians to eagerly watch and wait for the return of the Lord.

We hope to see you on Sunday morning as we get together to continue the series by Senior Pastor Subash Cherian titled, "How, then, shall we live?"
The Book of Revelation, as written by John, begins with "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand."
Chapter 13 contains four of the most iconic concepts contained in Revelation. The two "beasts" described here are the figures often referred to as the Antichrist and the False Prophet. The symbol mandated for all followers of Antichrist, administered by the False Prophet, is the mark of the beast.
So how can we, living in present day, prepare for the near future, of what God has said will come to pass? Come to our services to find out!

Message: How then, shall we live? (Part 4) by Pastor Subash Cherian // August 11, 2024.
In the parable of the ten minas (Luke 19:11โ27), a nobleman must leave to receive a kingship from a higher authority. He selects ten servants and gives each of them a single mina, telling them to invest them wisely until his return; he expects them to make a profit. Most of the servants do well. One servant hides the mina, afraid that if he loses his capital, the nobleman will be angry. The nobleman is angry, anyway, that he didn't at least put it in the bank and make interest.
This parable is about responsibility with the gospel. Jesus is saying that we have all received the same gift: All the proof we need that Jesus is the Messiah. His resurrection confirms it. But are we faithful with that information? Will we build His kingdom during His absence?

Tonight's Bible Study topic is about the wedding at Cana, as recorded in the Book of John. The miracle at the wedding is the first of seven "signs" that John uses to prove that Jesus is God. A 1st Century Palestinian wedding reception with no wine is like the 4th of July without fireworks.
And so, running out of wine somewhere in the middle of a much-anticipated 7-day wedding festival where the whole town was invited, was probably the worst nightmare for the hosts of this wedding feast.
It was Jesusโs mother who makes him aware that the wine has run out. But Jesus tells his mother that his hour has not yet come. But then Mary turns to the servants and says, "Do whatever he tells you." Mary seems to understand that Jesus is not going to do what she wants him to do, but she has confidence that he is going to do something.

Tonight's Bible Study topic dwells in the Book of Acts, chapters 3 & 4. Acts 4 continues the story of the spread of the gospel in Jerusalem after Jesus' ascension into heaven. It directly continues the story of Acts 3, which contains the second major speech of Jesus' followers. Acts 4 gives the first hints of the persecution the church will face throughout its history.
The summary of the book of Acts is provided in Jesus' words in Acts 1:8: ''But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.''

We hope to see you Sunday morning as we gather to hear Senior Pastor Subash Cherian's message, "God's Mission, Our Mission."
After enduring temptation and starvation, Jesus comes back to Galilee. While visiting there, Jesus reads aloud from Isaiah, in the synagogue. The prophecy indicates that the Messiah will bring rescue, healing, and good news. When Jesus claims to be the fulfillment of this prophecy, His former neighbors react with skepticism. In their eyes, Jesus is nothing more than another Nazarene.

Fellowship is an important part of being a Christian
Sometimes we need more than our own personal time with God, sometimes we need the body of Christ (the church). The bible says that as we stay connected to other believers of the same accord, we will grow. Proverbs 27:17 says, โYou use steel to sharpen steel, and one friend sharpens another.โ Hope to see you at the next gathering.
