Born in 1951, Ismael is a choreographer, author, performer, teacher, curator, and arts advocate renowned for his improvisational dance and language work.⁠

His artistry has graced stages in NYC (like Middle😉), across the US, and around the globe. From his 1984 Bessie Award-winning work with Fred Holland to his 2011 Bessie with Dennis Cooper and Chris Cochrane, Ismael’s impact is ICONIC. ⁠
